The compound used in this product encourages rapid growth and produces healthy seedlings for spring planting.

I put the ones I didn't need in a plastic ziploc, and filled the tray with the amount I needed for cuttings from a poinsettia plant that are doing well.

The Rapid Rooter Tray has increased my success rate from 60% to over 95% of my cutting growing into healthy well rooted plants.

im a first timer, and i have to say this worked so well that i dont know why anyone is bothering with the paper towel thing. i used 3 different strains of seeds,1 per hole of coarse. added 1 16oz. bottle of spring water [room temp] then covered with the plastic dome [vents closed] this had one of those heating pads underneath that i purchased seperately. after about 20 hrs. i had 5 with sprouts about a half inch long. the next day about the same amount [another 5-6] had sprouted with about 2/3 of the rest cracked open and starting to sprout. also, the material in the cups will come out nice and easy to transfer to the medium im going to use [hydro] so here it is folks a true testimonial from a virgin first timer--------happy growin

Since we live in the PNW, my family is attempting an aquaponics system this year to jumpstart our vegetable garden and grow our own fish (or, at least to utilize the pet fish we keep. They gotta earn their keep somehow, eh?). We bought one of these trays at a local indoor garden store and I planted it with different types of beans, of melons, zucchini, Alpine strawberries, corn, cucumbers... within 6 days the beans are outgrowing the 4 inch cover and the roots are spreading through the drain hole! All the plants are happy, except the strawberries that have not sprouted yet. I had to transfer the beans yesterday, and the media plugs are a joy to work with! I gave up using peat plugs as they fall apart easily. These do not. They remained the same shape and I noticed they were moist but not soggy. Overall my DH and I are both pleasantly surprised. So much that I bought more plugs and plan to start everything I can in them. I didn't even water them the day I planted the seeds as they were moist to the touch.
They're so simple and work so well that my skeptical DH is now reconsidering my idea to grow veggies indoors year round!

Hmmm... maybe I should try to start my sweet peas in them... I love those flowers but have never successfully grown them here. :)

I've been growing over 40 years. This was my first stab at cloning in something other than soil. I have to admit - This is the way it should be done. My only regret is I didn't start using this system 40 years ago.

While I had pretty good success with clones in soil, I now have 100% success. It just doesn't get any better than that.

If you're considering this type of system for the first time, please give it a try. It's only slightly different than using soil. But so much cleaner and much more efficient.

I do, however, use an 8p galvanized nail to create a new hole because the hole is a little on the large side for what I do.

I bought these trays based on reviews and everything that people say that is positive is 100% true. The Rapid Rooter tray comes with these pre-moistened "plugs" with little holes in each one. So, you just drop the seed in each hole (big like sunflower or even smaller seeds like poppy seeds) and the plug keeps the seed moist yet still provides a dark enough environment where it can grow easily unlike forcing it's way through dirt. Besides being easy, it's very clean, odorless and I found there is also no need to "soak" seeds overnight before planting since the Rapid Rooter plugs keep everything moist. To water, you just pour 16oz. of water in every few days. I also purchased 7-inch, clear plastic domes separately to make little greenhouses out of these trays. A great product!

Good germination rate and easy to transplant........wouldn't use anything else to pop my seeds! You can also transplant in any medium.

It's the first time I've ever used these starter plugs for gardening, but these are great. They came moist and ready to use. The only problem is that the tray it came in was warped, so I couldn't fit it into my humidity dome without a lot of moisture leaking out (defeating the purpose of the dome). I had to prop the plugs up in some random disposable cups instead. -1 Star for the warped product.

I have been using the Rapid Rooter tray and plugs for awhile now in the garden, both soil veggies and hydroponic tomatoes. Overall, results have been mixed. For seeds that have a germination time under two-three weeks this works well. The seeds germinate nicely and they grow quickly. I use a root-starting mix with the water as well, which produces a very nice root set for when I move it into pots or the hydroponic kit.

The closer the germination time gets to three weeks, the plugs tend to get a little bit hard on top. Maybe the water has trouble keeping the top moist over time. For those plants, it does not work too well when they are moved to be transplanted. The capsule tends to keep its form and from my perception, there are not as many roots. These plants were the weakest plants over the summer.
