5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read
I have to admit that this is the most interesting books I've ever read. If you want to know how the basics of life all tie together and form the world and existance around you then this is for you. This book has seriously opened up the world to me. I cannot look at anything around me like I used to. I recommend getting and reading this book solo. The way it is written...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much information
I do not like this book much. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with it because it is the one required for the class I'm taking. I think there is too much information. Things could be explained in a much more straightforward way. Instead, there are boxes and different colors everywhere. Confusing, to me anyway. ( I picked up a used book by Beka books called...

I have to admit that this is the most interesting books I've ever read. If you want to know how the basics of life all tie together and form the world and existance around you then this is for you. This book has seriously opened up the world to me. I cannot look at anything around me like I used to. I recommend getting and reading this book solo. The way it is written makes it perfectly understandable without a teacher or professor of any kind. Everything is spelled out clearly with simple everday comparisons and examples. There are a ton of useful problems to work on to assist in cementing your knowledge in place. Seriously though I really can't think of any other book I've ever read that was more interesting than this one. Pick it up and prepare to see your world unfold in front of you as a new and chaotic, complex and beautifully organized universe.

This book is amazing. Easy to get an A in a class that uses this text. Everything that is in the book is easily understood, its unbelieveable, so easy to follow.
If you purchase the study guide you will be even better off.
Hope this is useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Made Chemistry Easy To Learn, May 26, 2010
This review is from: General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry: An Integrated Approach (Hardcover)
Everything in the book was easy to understand. I am not sure how hard Chemistry is supposed to be since using this book explained all the concepts so simply. I was incredibly fortunate to be taught by Dr. Frost, one of the authors. Her style of teaching is all over this book. Direct, to the point, and simple to understand. The sections in each chapter were kept fairly short and I never felt overloaded with information. There were enough graphics, pictures, tables, and charts to explain the material visually. Interspersed in each section were practice problems to grasp the concepts before moving on and there were additional problems at the end of each chapter. This is a gem of a book and having it to study by allowed me to make an A in the class. Having never taken a Chemistry class before I didn't know what to expect. Sciences get a bum rap for being hard to understand yet I did not find this to be true at all with Dr. Frost's class or her book. Thank you Dr. Frost for your book and a really great class!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chemistry made simple, May 18, 2010

Let me start by saying I am not a Chemistry person. I like what chemistry does for us everyday but studying it seemed overwhelming. This book helped me believe that it was possible for me not only to be interested but absorb the material. First of all the book is easy to understand. There are many practical examples throughout every chapter. Then there are plenty of sample problems, which helped me grasp the concepts. When you put all these things together chemistry becomes relevant and applicable to everyday life. The other great thing is the book is full of colored illustrations which help if you are a visual person. The book is also really thin and light weight, which is a nice feature. The price is also good as far as science books go.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much information, January 23, 2011
I do not like this book much. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with it because it is the one required for the class I'm taking. I think there is too much information. Things could be explained in a much more straightforward way. Instead, there are boxes and different colors everywhere. Confusing, to me anyway. ( I picked up a used book by Beka books called Chemistry-Precision and Design. So clear in comparison to the Timberlake one.)

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, July 25, 2010

A good find! Excellent condition. Exactly the copy I was looking for, and it shipped so quickly too! As a college student getting new books at fair prices is always important, thank goodness for amazon.com! I avoided waiting in a long bookstore line just to get to the checkout and pay too much for a junky and written all over used copy. Students check on amazon.com for your books before getting ripped off at the campus bookstores!

5.0 out of 5 stars General Chemistry, September 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Needed this book for a General Chemistry class. It does the job, was too expensive in my opinion, but over all a good book. Check with your professor to see if you can use the 2nd edition and not the 3rd, it will save you a lot of money. There is little difference between them !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, January 31, 2009
This book is great. It has made it easy to understand chemistry. It's like looking at a math book. It breaks everything down into parts and puts it all together at the end of the chapter to grasp the full concept.
