The Essential Guide for Leadership,

This review is from: General Patton's Principles: For Life and Leadership (Paperback)
General George S. Patton, Jr. was one of the greatest heroes this country has ever produced. In addition, he was also one of the most misunderstood. Many thought he was hated by his men, but the truth is that his men loved him. Porter B. Williamson served with General Patton in the I Armored Corps in 1942. Although he did not follow Patton across the Atlantic, Williamson had instilled in him the principles that would follow him for the rest of his life. This book is the best collection of the leadership principles and philosophies of General George S. Patton. Minus the profanity that Patton made famous, this book uses many speeches and talks to the troops that exemplify the leadership principles that helped Patton lead his men to victory. This book is highly recommended for anyone in a position of leadership, and is must reading for anyone seeking a management position.

A Great Lesson,
By A Customer
This review is from: General Patton's Principles : For Life and Leadership (Hardcover)
As a Naval Officer I have read this book well over ten times. It's lessons show the importance of such leadership qualities as honesty, integrity, care for your men, and the importance of being fair. An excellent book for anyone wanting leadership advice.

One of the best books on Leadership and on Patton ever writt,

You have seen the movie, this book takes a look at man behind the myth. Written by Porter B. Williamson who served as an officer under the General only briefly but has lived by Patton's principles ever since. Williamson gives some very rare insight into the complex man and clears Patton's name in the famous South Carolina war games exercise in which the General has been wrongly accused of not following the rules by most of his other biographers.

This review is from: General Patton's Principles: For Life and Leadership (Paperback)
General Patton is here for the next generation of managers and CEO's. Wonderfully written in a style that made me feel I was there. I lived the experiences Mr Williamson lived with Patton, and I have learned. One of the best 'how to' mgt books available. I only wish I had found it sooner...

I lost my autographed copy of this beloved book in a military move and with great joy found it 31 years later, devouring it and memorizing parts of it for business purposes. It has grown
Gen. Patton was a warrior and his principles are for war and training, but they apply beautifully to business. I suspect that Patton would be a great businessman or president, but that people would see an entirely different side of a complex genius in those venues. He was an autocrat in an environment that demanded one. He was compassionate and deeply spiritual, loving his men. Above all, he was an actor, adopting the "face" that he thought would produce the best results. The book was written after the movie "Patton" appeared on screen, and re-read by me after "Patton" appeared on TV. I suspect the book is more accurate than the movie. This is an easy read by a Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel who served on Patton's staff, who saw his glories and his few weaknesses, who felt his wrath and his commendations. It does seem to be written in haste, but the principles Williamson articulates are timeless. In places my copy's print quality is poor, and I gleefully forgive all that. It's not the author I want to study, but the subject of the author, from a unique viewpoint of a man who served with Patton. Someone wrote that he donated his copy to Charity after 15 pages. I thought those pages were among the book's best! However, one has to read beyond them to see the life in the subject. If you have a copy to donate, I have a charity that would love to give it to a future business or military leader. I just ordered several to give as gifts.

Great book about a great General. My husband actually read this book out loud to each of my children the week they were born! (And I'm sure will read it many more times over the coming years). I also enjoyed it immensely, even though I am not the history buff that my hubby is. Great principles to live by, fun stories, as well as informative. Well written & easy to read. We also bought it for our new nephew when he was born.

Patton ... a definition for ..me.,
This review is from: General Patton's Principles: For Life and Leadership (Paperback)
The book has defined my approach to life since I first read it in 1985. I have sooo many far far left people that love me. But b/c I approach life with this modulation, I am always accepted if not agreed with. There is beauty in belief, rather than debate.
Patton is a hero, that I'm not sure a today's normal American could stomach. But I guess America doesnt have to... anymore. JT
