This review is from: General Richard Montgomery and the American Revolution: From Redcoat to Rebel (American Social Experience) (Paperback)
I read this book during a recent Master's Degree course. This is not a typical textbook reading! This is a refreshing biography of a forgotten American Revolution general. What makes the character even more elusive to historical review is that he fought and died early in the war for independence. The author tells the story of Montgomery's life in a readable style. Through the process, the reader gains a better understanding of the early battles of the Revolution. In addition, the reader gains perspective on the dark character of Benedict Arnold. Great book...easy read...anyone interested in leadership, American Generals, or the revolution will enjoy it.

Shelton covers Montgomery's life, an officer who is often overlooked because of his untimely death. The book is relatively short, and an easy read, but it is very informative and interesting.
