Book Description

January 25, 2008 097606622X 978-0976066224 2nd
General Surgery Review is a comprehensive review presented in a unique case-based format. Topics are summarized in easy-to-remember capsules with exam pearls interjected throughout.

Martin A. Makary, a general surgeon at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, has assembled the review in conjunction with his colleagues and many other national experts.

A "quick-read" the book can serve as a last minute study aid or a general framework for learning about the field of surgery, including a relevant review of all relevant subspecialties. Unlike many other books, General Surgery Review excludes controversial management in order to present an easy-to-remember foundation of knowledge. Thus, the book focuses on "the basics" to provide the reader with a broad command of the field.

I got this based on the reviews. It is worth it. I love this book and it is a good review for general surgery. The cases are optimal and what you are usually asked in orals.
As they say, you still have to read a big textbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for ALL surgical Residents, October 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: General Surgery Review, 2nd Edition (Paperback)
Amazing surgical review book...this is the least that I could say about it. It really increases your understanding for surgery in general and takes you in a timely review of surgery focusing on the most important and high-yield points that are frequently asked in major surgical exams.

As chief resident in general surgery, I recommend this review to all my junior colleagues in surgery.
