This is a very solidly built tool. I had not really focused on the length when I ordered. It is roughly one yard long. The shaft is flexible but not too flexible. The light is dim but it is much better than no light at all.
There are no instructions on how to replace the batteries. The batteries are near the top of the plunger. The is a knurled black cylinder... it can be unscrewed apart and the batteries go in there. They are very small batteries.

This grabber arrived today. When I got it out of the package the jaws wouldn't open at all. I had to pull them out with a pair of pliers to even get them to move. After that it opened sort of. They don't open very far and if you bend the shaft to 90 degrees they only open about 1/4 inch so it might as well not be flexible. The LED light never worked. I checked the batteries and there good so some wire must be broken.
It's not worth the money to return it so I'll keep it and a lesson learned. I recommend looking elsewhere for something that comes closer to working as claimed.
It seems like these days more and more of this junk shows up in the market place.

If you have back pain like I do, then this is probably the best invention I have ever found for picking up items off the floor. It is easy to use, and it even has a light to illuminate the area of the item you are about to pick up. It has a small mechanical claw which reaches out from the bottom tip when the button on the top is pushed. If you are in pain when you bend over to pick up items from the floor, here is an excellent tool to aid you. It comes in 24" and 36" sizes, but I find the 36" size is perfect for reaching things without bending.

Ya not the greatest
well for the price i guess it's a crap shoot, my tool claw was stuck inside the cylinder and when i forced it out i broke the string holding it to the plunger -

kind of cheep made but long enough
kind of cheep but has the length you need for those hard to reach places
