Impressed with the quality of this punch but is extremely heavy. Use on metal only. Be aware this is not a punch to be used for wood.

I USE THIS AT WORK TO MARK A DRILL POINT IN ALL KINDS OF METAL WITHOUT HAVING TO USE A HAMMER. TO HELP ME PUSH WITH EASE, I DRILLED OUT A HOLE IN A OLD GOLF BALL AND PUSH IT SNUGLY ON TOP OF THE CENTER PUNCH AND IT ALSO HELPS ME LOCATE THE CENTER PUNCH EASILY IN MY TOOL BAG.

Vendor: Fine job. Quick service and well shipped.
Tool: Works very well. I restore antique autos for a hobby and one of the problems with using a punch on these autos is that it would dimple the metal in addition to putting the starting point for a drill. This automatic punch does not dimple the metal, while leaving a very nice drill starting point. It's force is adjustable for different metals and thickness and it has a replaceable tip. An all around good tool.

General has shifted production of this punch overseas. If you compare a new punch to one made in the USA, you will find a remarkable difference in quality, but not in price.
I suggest that you comb out-of-the-way hardware stores for older production US made punches that are collecting dust on the shelf. It may cost more, but this Indian made punch was a waste of money. I used this punch once, then the tip fell off between jobsites, never to be found again. While I was smart enough to buy a replacement tip at the same time, it doesn't fit. The screw thread size has been changed. The Indian made punch uses a smaller thread than the US made punch. Now I have a $28 punch and an $7 tip that don't go together.That was a very expensive hole.

I had a very bad experiance with trying to return this item back and getting my money from these people. I suggest to stop your order cause this tool did not work at all. I will never purchase anything from this company. 6 months before the money was going to be returned to me. a lot a run arounds and e-mails back and forth. and they blame fed-ex..

I purchased this to make some divots into my Mustang's hood to install a scoop. It worked exactly like I imagined it would. However, being that I had never used one before and the instructions didn't help me out, I had to ask around in order to figure out how it worked. This wouldn't be a problem for those who have had experience with one before. It was kinda funny actually...I was trying to make it more complicated than it actually was. LOL

I bought a cheaper automatic center punch model by General which didn't work at all. This model worked only after I disassembled it and used a lighter lube. It still doesn't deliver a particularly hard thump.
