I have tried to improve my carpentry and was tired of just driving the screw at the highest power to get it 'sunk' ( I never said I have arrived just trying to improve). I bought a combo set to drill and counter sink at the same time but was never satisfied by the three bit combo. I have reviewed may choices but not too many with glowing reports. I stumble on this little beauty with 5 flutes for fine smooth wall countersink hole. I had to get used to not needing any significant pressure, even in oak. Now I can countersink with the best with and size drill bit I select. Great Item! Made in USA. Very versatile with little effort. Easy to get consistent results with a little practice.

I have already rated the 1/4", but wanted to make sure that these General Tools gets the attention deserved. I have had very good experience with the quality at a fraction of the price. I am very satisfied. Hope this helps.

I use this little bugger to smooth edges on drilled holes both on my drill press, and by hand. I also use sometimes to center drill bits on work.

Using it by hand, I can clean up holes on aluminum seeing results immediately.

Its handy and the price means im not stressing over keeping it in good shape.

Wish I had bought it earlier. I use it to debur brass bushings, either with an electric drill or by hand. Either way it turns well and isn't grabby EVER. I used it for wood countersinking and it made a perfect countersink that required zero extra cleaning up. Great tool to have.

Sharp, works great on 6061 aluminum. Wish it had a hex shank for hand operation. Haven't tried it on ferrous metals.

It worked perfectly for what I needed it for. I just rebuilt an old Craftsman model 113 Contractor's table saw.
I didn't want to drill into the original cast iron on this 1951 saw to mount a Delta T2-30 inch rip fence.
I needed to drill and countersink the hardened angle iron frame on the brand new rip fence, and knew that the warranty was gone the second I did that.

I needed it to work perfectly, and it did; the saw has absolutly no heeling or kickback problems so the countersinking was dead on.

A decent countersink, well worth the money. Too bad you can't find such items at Loew's or Home Depot these days.

This 3/4" tapered countersink seems to be well made, sharp, and durable. No complaints to date.
