I started watching these devices a few months ago thinking they'd be a cheap way to get some Internet connectivity on my TV, mostly for watching youtube and similar content. Being an Android device helped and having the Play store already installed meant no need to root or jump through hoops to get apps installed. There's very little installed when you first get it, just a browser, a video player (that didn't seem to work with any video I had) and a few other apps. I logged in to my Google account and went about installing some of my favorites.

It has a nice fast processor and a 1GB of ram and seemed snappy enough. YouTube videos played just fine (I recently upgraded to 802.11N and this supports it). The only major minus is the lack of built-in Bluetooth, which means the USB host port will get used up by an adapter for your keyboard/mouse. But it won't be too much of a strain to use a USB hub either, if I want to add devices down the road.

One thing to pay attention to: When I first installed it, I got the USB power cable installed on the USB OTG port (similar to what most Android phones use). Because of that, my TV kept mounting it looking for pictures. After I realized what happened I made sure I connected it using the Power-only port. Also, my TVs HDMI ports are recessed and very close together. This unit is somewhat large and so I had to use the (included) short HDMI extension. It's not quite as neat an install, but who cares? It's behind the TV anyway.

Check around, there are better prices than this now. But they shipped quickly and it was in a "retail" box with basic instructions and cables.

This was okay when I first got it. It has gotten slower the more I use it. Factory reset it a few times and its still on the slow side. I guess I got used to dual core phones. They are much faster than this. It was nice to use for a little while. Now it sits in my glove box.

I bought this device to use it with a XBMC. Unfortunaly this device is very slow and does not support hardware acceleration so you can forget about watching a HD movies.
