5.0 out of 5 stars An average of six children per day were murdered in Colombia, July 13, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Generation Under Fire: Children and Violence in Colombia (Paperback)
Per capita killings of children in 1993 exceeded those in Brazil where the killing of black children in the streets captured world headlines. However, the killing, rape and torture of children in Colombia has never hit the global media radar screen until now. Robin Kirk painstakingly documents the abuse of children in Colombia. However, the most scandalous part of this book is that it clearly shows that a significant number of murders of children in Colombia is a direct responsibility of state forces. The Colombian government has dirty hands and has been unable to control the slaughterhouse mentality of criminal elements in the military and police. Although this book is nearly ten years old it is worth reading to see how only the rich and powerful have the exclusive use of justice in Colombia.
