Undoubtedly `Crashdiet' is one of the most authentic Sleaze metal bands of their generation. Hailing from Sweden the group has achieved a lot and been through a lot since their debut in 2005; Despite the fact that `Crashdiet' has been around for merely five years (as a recording band) the have enjoyed the booming appeal of their music and style throughout northern Europe, the pleasure of topping the charts within their home country while they have also endured a death in the family (Original singer Dave Leppard ended his life after the launch and success of their debut album).

`Generation wild' is the brand new, third studio album of `Crashdiet' featuring the creative core of guitarist Martin Sweet, bass player Peter London and drummer Eric Young joined by attitude-fuelled singer Simon Cruz (replacing Oliver Twisted who fronted the band during the 2nd album `The unattractive revolution).

With 'generation wild' the band effectively takes steps backward but in a good way! `Crashdiet' has gone back to the sound and attitude of their debut and in a sense reintroduce themselves to worldwide audiences. Indeed, `Generation wild' is the first `Crashdiet' album to be supported by international distribution (thanks to Frontiers records) therefore the band is clearly aiming at an international career after their evident domestic success.

In terms of sound the album is metallic, melodic and obviously sleazy. You can rely on the fact that `Generation wild', `Rebel', `So alive' and `Down with the dust' sound as classic as their titles suggest. The production is thick, the riffs huge on most occasions (namely `Armageddon), endless amount of melodic guitar and vocal lines, and as always BIG choruses. New Singer Simon Cruz turns out to be a perfect match for the band in terms of both image and sound as he manages to carry the flow of energy consistently from the opener `Armageddon' to the closing `Beautiful pain'.

The more I play the album the more I get the impression that `Generation wild' is very much influenced, if not built, on the band's history: their past success, experiences and dramatic circumstances are basic ingredients of their new album.

`Generation wild' represents perfectly what `Crashdiet' is.

[The review should end here, but as a fan I would like to express a minor objection in the fact that the band decided not to include some of the heavier and more aggressive songs (namely `Caught in despair') written during the album's sessions and made public on their myspace page/play list.] Once again, the album is fantastic a monument of Sleaze metal; if you enjoyed the latest albums of `Ratt' `Crazy Lixx', and `Taking dawn' do not miss this one!

Metal Hammer Greek magazine (issue 304) marks this album with 7/10 commenting: "Crashdiet is probably the best sleaze/glam/poser/hard rock band of the past 10 years."

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely dynamite melodic sleaze rock from Sweden June 23, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
Generation Wild is the third album (excluding a self-released EP) from Swedish sleaze rockers Crashdiet, and the first to feature new vocalist Simon Cruz. Crashdiet, of course, is one of the brightest stars in the very talented new wave of Swedish sleaze rock, which also includes bands like Hardcore Superstar, Nasty Idols and Babylon Bombs.

Honestly, it may not be fair to call something so polished and melodic "sleaze" rock. Crashdiet obviously takes inspiration from Motley Crue and the whole `80s Hollywood hair metal sound, but they give it a heavy dose of Swedish melody and precision for and end result that's completely rockin' and completely irresistible. This band was awesome to begin with, but Simon Cruz's voice is a fantastic addition to the band's sound. He sounds like a rock hero from the `80s, giving the band an added measure of melody and power.

Generation Wild is a fantastic album from start to finish. Not only is it the strongest overall album that Crashdiet has ever recorded, it's also an album that puts most challengers to shame. Honestly, Motley Crue should listen to this and either step up their game or just walk away. If you're already down with bands like Hardcore Superstar, Reckless Love and Crazy Lixx, you don't need me to tell you to check out what Crashdiet has to offer. If you're the kind of rock fan who still spins your old Crue, Ratt and Skid Row albums, discovering this band will seem like a blast from the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have! March 18, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had ordered Crashdiet's Savage Playground first even though this one came before that one. I loved it so much, I ordered Generation Wild. This album is incredible! I listen from track 1 to the end and every song has me singing and rocking out like no other. The title track, Generation Wild, is the bet I've heard in a long time and Chemical follows right behind. Love it...love it.
