Having finished Generator (vol 1), my considered opinion is that it basically got worse as the pages went by. A LOT worse! Yes, there's a plot, but it's pretty thin, and the climax is a tribute to megalomania and masochism with a lot of senseless, raving techno- bio- and psycho-babble thrown in for the hell of it.

Overall, I found the book extremely sophomoric. I can only imagine it to be the product of many long nights of booze and caffeine. Here's a perfect example of the phraseology you'll find in this book: "It had been too much; just when he had reached the limit of his endurance, it had been frustrating to become frustrated again - the ecstasies of despair!"

Blah. Don't bother buying this book unless you are a teenaged techno-goth who's looking for an escapist fantasy starring a misunderstood genius coder.

(For me, reading further volumes of this nonsense would rank right up there with having root-canal work done. I'm not even sure why I bothered to plow through the whole thing!)

I would like to share a few thoughts on Greg Zbitnew's first effort as a novelist.
Generator (Volume 1) Floating Point was a rare find that held my attention throughout.
It was easy to relate to the central characters all consuming efforts to alter his and subsequently all of our realities. The character's drive was inspirational and I enjoyed being immersed in a variety of well researched and detailed environments as presented by Mr.Zbitnew.
I was more than happy to invest the time it took to pour through this novel and felt rewarded at its conclusion.
Highly recommended for anyone out there with a glimmer of imagination or the willingness to benefit from another's. I'm looking forward to upcoming efforts from this new novelist.

First I am going to say is that it is indeed self published and distributed. As well,Zbitnew wrote the novel as a escapist piece so you have to ignore the syntactical errors, the book wasn't meant for you.

Personally I found the philosophy quite interesting as well as the dscriptions of other technologies, and I am not techno or biology geek. The plot line, I admit, is not the best developed, but this is simply because it is not the focus of the book.
