3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Fun! March 13, 2013
By Who Dat
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Overall, the game impressed me. Caveat - I had fairly low expectations. I do not know anything about the cartoon network show so I will not comment on the storyline. The controls were relatively simple to learn, and the game was fun to play. There is 'animated violence' so this is likely not appropriate for young children. It was definitely worth the $9 (new) I spent on it.

Pros:
- Low learning curve
- One difficulty setting
- Decent graphics (some minor frame rate issues)
- Pretty easy trophies (if you care about that)

Cons:
- Repetitive combat
- Short game (~3 hours to beat all the missions)
- Little replay value (except to get trophies)

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but short. For Generator Rex Fans. January 8, 2012
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This is the one thing my six year old son was consistent about asking for for Christmas so I reluctantly ordered it from Amazon. Being a licensed game I didn't really know much about made me hesitant. Anyway he just finished the game and I watched him play it and helped him out here and there.

Story:
Generator Rex is sent on a few missions against one of his arch rivals to rescue friends and so on. Can't get into detail since I didn't watch him play the whole thing. I do know it was pretty short because he finished it fairly quickly.

Graphics:
The graphics are nice. The different levels have good detail from a mysterious foggy town to a jungle village. Looked just like the cartoon. The enemy AI are done OK for a kids game. A couple of the bosses were pretty cool looking. Generator Rex's weapons looked as good as in the cartoon or better.

Gameplay:
Pretty much a button masher. What made it fun was the variation in Rex's weapons. The AI have pretty basic moves with not much variety. You encounter the same ones throughout the game. There was a missed opportunity for greater variety especially in the spooky, foggy town level. My son was hoping some ghouls or ghosts or something scary would pop out but it was the same AI from the rest of the levels.

Replay value:
You can replay the levels and try to achieve faster times and such. Other than that I don't see a whole lot.

Bottom line:
If your kid is a Generator Rex fan this is a fun game they will get some enjoyment from while it lasts. Older kids or more experienced gamers will probably find it a little monotonous. If I didn't have to buy this for Christmas I probably would have waited until the price dropped by at least 50%. I bought it for around $39.00. Otherwise consider renting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly great! December 26, 2012
By Nicole
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
I was not expecting much from this game, but I was pleasently surprised. My boys, 4 and 7, both loved it. I ordered it as a stocking stuffer for christmas and they liked it even more than the ones they did ask for. Lots of action and easy enough to understand for both of them. The only negative is that it is a one player game and they have to take turns playing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun for all February 18, 2014
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
Now if you liked the show at all you will love this game. There is just one thing you do need to know about the game, it is short and I mean really short. I beat the game in about 2 too 3 hours. And I would not call myself a big gamer, though I play video games all the time. But it was just that really short of a game. But do not get me wrong that does not mean you should not get this game. By all means buy the game, for the price and the fun you will have with it it is a must for all one to get. the game controlle is spot on and it is just a well made gam,e, so try it and see for your self.
