4.0 out of 5 stars Life Saver February 1, 2012
Verified Purchase
Does just as it advertises. Doesn't come with instructions, so be sure to look on youtube and other sites to get a good, thorough idea of what to do. The pry tool is pretty weak and will barely make it through the whole procedure, I suggest buying a good quality one before you start. Also be wary of what you touch as I left a fingerprint on the inside of the glass after I put it all together.

This item is perfect, good quality and relatively easy to apply. Absolute life-saver, especially since I was out of my warranty.

1 Small Phillips head screw driver- will need this for the "2nd" layer of removal
1 super small Phillips head screw driver (like an eyeglass repair kit size)-will need this for the "3rd layer."
Exacto Knife or a modelling knife (to remove leftover glass/adhesive)
Hair dryer (to heat up the glass for easier removal- THIS IS MANDATORY. this was the hardest part of the process for me).

Hope this helps, and good luck.

3.0 out of 5 stars Saved this phone May 28, 2012

Screen works looks to be OEM,it's been installed for a day and all the buttons work and no dead spots on the digitizer.

I'd give this a higher rating but...:
1) Missing mini phillips head screwdriver
2) The sticky tape provided really only is cut out for attaching the digitizer to the front bezel. But you need to take off the LCD to get at the digitizer so had to cut down bits of the leftover tape to reattach the LCD. I'm guessing it's possible to not glue back the LCD but rather not take the chance.
3) had to cut some of the pre-cut tape to make sure the button control/leds shone through.

* Best vid on disassembly was from irepairfast on youtube.
* Will need mini phillips head screwdriver
* Get some silicon gloves for reassembly and handling the LCD (you don't fingerprints under the glass)
* When you remove the LCD put it into a sandwich bag to keep dust off it until you need to put it back in.
* Sharp scissors for cutting up tape
* reattach the LCD cable before laying down the motherboard
* Good idea to have a shammy to lightly swat NOT wipe dust off parts maybe a can of air but don't want to shoot out liquid onto any parts.
* treat the LCD like it's double the strength of a Ritz cracker... Be careful! so take time heating it up with a blow dryer (I used high for about 20 seconds...lightly pried...and then if it didn't come off EASY added more heat and repeat.)
* Scraped old adhesive with nice tweezers and then used acetone (nail polish remover) to finish the job.
* The pry tool is largely useless. But I still used it and most helpful with flipping up cable tabs and moving ribbons out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality but expect some things September 20, 2012

Ok I bought this expecting a tough replacement, but it was actually very easy. Everything was included to do the repair EXCEPT for the #0 Phillips screw driver...and the heat gun or hair dryer. Few things to mention that everyone failed to.

: the adhesive is very sticky...place the adhesive on the bezel NOT the glass.
: you don't need every bit of the adhesive. You only need the top and bottom portions of it. (the ones for the top and bottom of the glass. You can try to use the square part that's kinda cut for you, but you will need a razor blade to cut through it. It is not cut properly, so if you try and pry it apart you will stretch it and it will bunch up.
: if you use a hair dryer, heat both sides of the broken glass to make it easier to remove. The glass removal is the most time consuming part of the process. If you cannot remove it in one piece, wear eye protection because it shatters into pieces...and you will need to remove it one tiny piece at a time.
: use nitrile gloves ( BOTH OF THEM ) you really don't want to risk fingerprints on the inside of the glass.
: watch the LCD screen on removal, it can be a bit tough to remove if the adhesive is not heated up enough, so just keep the dryer on it while you are prying it off.
: save the yellow heat conductive tape you removed off the cables of the main board. You need them to protect the wires from excessive heat.
: keep the plastic glass film on the front side of the glass during the install...as well as the back film while connecting the main cable for the digitizer.
: have some qtips near you and some rubbing alcohol for cleaning fingerprints.
: like everyone has stated, the pry tool is a bit flimsy, but it lasted through the entire install for me...

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect replacement May 16, 2012

Other than the adhesive, I had no problem with this product at all. Well I would suggest a better tool kit. The pry tool broke after a minute of use. Other than that, the replacement screen, which I was mainly looking for, worked like a charm =)

5.0 out of 5 stars easier and cheaper than a new phone April 29, 2012

I smashed the top half of my screen and this was my choice it cost a hell of a lot less than a new phone and it was super easy to install. It was so nice to have the adhesive cut so all you had to do was pull the backing off and stick no cutting not measuring just sticking. :D
