It did look like a cheap knock off of the original lamp that I pulled out of the TV and I guess it was.

The replacement bulb/cage unit that I ordered/received from Sitlers was outstanding! My original bulb lasted pretty much the 6,000 hours that it was advertised to by Mitsubishi, so kudos to them! Upon replacing the bulb my picture is so clear and precise that the tv picture is as good as it was the first time I plugged it in. In fact, after 2 years of watching the tv with the slowly degrading bulb, I had to lower all my video settings coz they were too high! I love my new, 2 year old 73" DLP HDTV! Thank you Sitlers for the speedy delivery (2 days) and the price ($145 delivered to the door). I could not be happier!!!

UPDATE: Replacement bulb started intermittent flickering (reason for original bulb replacement) within 4 months and I am looking at having to replace it in the immediate future. Its a roll of the dice apparently with the replacement bulb you order.

I like alot of the reviewers here, had the OEM bulb on my Mitsubishi tv last for a LONG time.... Mine lasted roughly 4.5 years, with heavy usage with my stay at home wife watching tv all day, and my kids playing the Wii on it as well. 5 months ago, my OEM bulb went out, and I ordered a bulb from one of the sellers on here claiming it is OEM "compatible" replacement. I thought if I would call the seller up directly, and place the order over the phone, that it would expedite the process. It did, but then the bulb was not backed by amazon. That bulb came with a 90 day warranty, and on day 87, it went out on me. I then contacted that seller, and they sent me a replacement, but also informed me that the replacement bulb came with NO WARRANTY. In order to get my replacement bulb, I had to send the defective one back, and THEN they would send the replacement, which would take about 10-12 business days for all this to transpire. All the while, I didn't have a working tv......... I then decided to buy another bulb, this time thru amazon, which came with a 180 day warranty. I place that order on November 17th, 2011, and that bulb went out last night December 27th, 2011. I then contacted Amazon and they said they would give me a full refund, AFTER they receive the defective bulb, and that I can just purchase a new bulb again. The new ones are $8 more, but they said they would sell me a new one for my original price. Fortunately, I do have the original replacement bulb that was warrantied, so I have a working tv.

I don't know about your TV set up, but mine is not the easiest to get to the backside to replace the bulb. I would prefer not having to do it every 2-3 months.

Basically, what I am saying, is that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WITH THESE "OEM - COMPATIBLE" BULBS.

Many of us have spent quite a bit of money getting that big screen TV and sound system. The heart of that system is the bulb that lights up our Mitsubishi big screen. My original bulb lasted 3 years and then started getting dim and finally stopped functioning entirely. Ok , check Amazon for replacement bulbs, they range in price from about $80 to $190. All the vendors claim that theirs is a factory replacement or OEM equivalent. After spending the $80 twice and the bulbs lasting less then a week, I looked at my original bulbs manufacturer, OSRAM. Searched the web for a vendor that carried OSRAM bulbs, bought it and placed it in the original housing, installed it in TV and for the last three weeks the TV has worked like new. The OSRAM bulb only without housing was $139 and worth every penny. Most places only sell the lamp with housing, I wanted to use my original housing and replace bulb only. [...] is one of the few places that will sell bulb only. Final word, Make sure you get the same brand of bulb that was in your TV originally, it is worth the extra money versus some cheap knock off.

This thing died in 2 months. It did look like a cheap knock off of the original lamp that I pulled out of the TV and I guess it was. Amazon told me I need to contact Mitsubishi but I doubt they specialize on cheap knock offs. Ended up buying a different one from somewhere else and that looked like the original out of the box.

Ordered bulb w/ housing in August 2010. Worked fine but burned out in 5 months. The bulb had a 6 month warranty but I could not contact the seller because it said they are not affiliated with Amazon anymore. I sent the bulb back to the seller to see if they would replace it (and honor their warranty) but it looks like it is being sent back to me because their address must no longer exist. They must have went out of business. Learned my lesson and will go with a more reputable company next time.
