If you have a vertical drill press, this is a great set of diamond hole saws. Works great for cutting out the holes for pipes in marble tile, slate, etc. Comes in a nice little case to keep everything organized.

If you are trying to use these with a regular hand drill, it isn't easy. Unlike wood hole saws, there is no pilot bit to stabilize and center your hole. Since there is no pilot bit, there is nothing to hold the saw against slippery marble or ceramic tile. If you just try to go at it, the saw will walk right across the front of your work and ruin it with huge scratches. To avoid this, you have to VERY CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY seat the saw edge into the hole by running the drill super-slowly. It is hard to tell when you reach the point where you can turn up the drill and just power through.

Definitely practice on some scrap pieces before you try doing this with actual work you want to keep. You can get the hang of it eventually, but it takes a little time to master the technique reliably.

Once seated, they cut through even thick stone with no issues and they don't seem to overheat quickly. They seem reasonably durable, and with light use they should last quite a while.

I used the 1 1/2in size to enlarge the hole in my granite counter top to accommodate a new hot water tap that replaced a soap dispenser. I first cut a 1 1/2in hole in a piece of plywood, taped it to the counter that drilled away while my wife sprayed cold water at the bit to keep it cutting smooth. All and all I would say the bit worked very good, great for the money.

I bought this hole saw set because it was an unbelievable price and I trusted the reviews. I was not disappointed. One name brand professional bit can easily cost what this entire set costs! My first test was to cut a hole in a granite kitchen counter top. It did so flawlessly.

As another reviewer wrote, the hole saws do not come w/centering bits (some of the bits are too small for centering bits anyway). This is easily overcome (as the same reviewer wrote) by making a template out of plywood (Use a wood bit to pre drill a hole of equal size in the plywood). I used two sided tape to stick the plywood to the granite and a sponge to keep the bit wet and soak up the slop.

I don't think the bits will last forever cutting granite (for the price I would have never expected them to) and they bottom out at about 1-3/8", but it is certainly nice to have a pretty varied assortment of bits that you can trust to make accurate holes in stone or tile.
