5.0 out of 5 stars Blister Free Hiking
I am an avid hiker/backpacker/scrambler and a recent convert to Hydropel. I bought it for a week long backpacking trip on a section of the PCT. There were four men, including myself, on this trip. We shared a single tube of Hyrdopel during this trip and it had sufficient volume, with some left at the end of the trip.

Hydropel on its own will not be enough to...

3.0 out of 5 stars way over priced
This product is way over priced in my opinion. You can find better products at a more reasonable price.

Also, This seems to wear out after only a few miles when used to prevent blisters on the feet.

Hydropel on its own will not be enough to prevent blisters. You must still take care of the #1 essential: properly fitting boots. Without a comfortable and broken-in boot you will still get blisters. However, combine a good, comfortable boot, wool hiking socks, liner socks, and hydropel and you have a recipe for blister free travel.

Also, based on a recommendation from a hiking blog I read (www.sectionhiker.com), one of our group members on our section hike (not me) tried hydropel on the monkey butt he developed on day 2 of the hike. His report? Success!

This is great stuff. Combined with Injinji toe socks, this has prevented my feet from blistering at all in the last two hundred milers and last four fifty milers I've run. Previously, my feet usually got very blistered in these races.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kayaking beauty, March 16, 2010

Great stuff for kayaking. Used it every few hours on a recent 300+ mile, seven day offshore sea kayaking race and not one blister. Only shame was that I lost the tube overboard in the last few hours of the event; and one tube usually lasts two of these races.

I hiked 270 miles on the PCT this year, and, for the first time in a dozen years, I got no blisters. It may have been because I have become obsessive about frequent sock changes, but there is also a pretty good chance that this Hydropel stuff actually protects my feet. I will be making another purchase for next year's hike(s).

It has helped me to prevent blisters and hot spots in short races (2 to 3 hours)!! My only issue is that it loosens Kinesio Tex even applied with mastisol.

We used this "goo" on a 2 day backpacking trip with 38 river crossings. First....NO blisters...none......pruny feet?...just a little bit on one toe....our feet looked pristine after both days.....is it expensive? ya...kind of ....but blisters and pruny feet suck...so I am willing to pay the price for this stuff! I even had brand new shoes on (see my review for brooks green silence)...This stuff will go on EVERY backpacking trip we go on....NO questions asked

5.0 out of 5 stars just what was needed, October 21, 2007
I have a friend in the military and she is in boots everyday all day long. She needed a foot lubricant and this did the trick. Excellent product.
