Biography

Marilyn Manson has been singled out by conservative commentators as a prime example of evil music, the kind of music that alienates teenagers and makes them do wrong. But Brian Warner and his bandmates are intelligent examiners of the dark side of life, so much so that they have sold over 50 million records worldwide (as of May 2009) - and not all of those who bought them became miscreants.

Editorial Reviews

The first official release for Marilyn Manson's early pre-Interscope recordings. All tracks were recorded at the 'Demystifying The Devil' sessions and are extremely rare! Contains nine tracks including an 11 minute long interview track. 2001 release. Standard jewel case.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not brilliant, but saved by strange same dogma., December 5, 2003

The actual sound quality on this disc is pretty awful, there's too much extra noise, plus the interview almost made me go to sleep and quite a few of the songs aren't really that good. But one thing saves this album from mediocrity, and that is Strange Same Dogma. To be frank, this has to be the best song the group has ever done to date.

"Burn ya witches, burn ya witches..."

4.0 out of 5 stars Genesis Of The Devil, September 8, 2001

This review is from: Genesis of the Devil (Audio CD)
well, the cd contains most of his old songs, and umm....the sound quality is quite bad, sounds kinda bootlegged, but what can u expect from his pre-interscope days? i recommend sam , son of man (1), and strange sam dogma (2). this albums version of 'lunchbox' is totally different from the one from POAAF.the interview part is quite insightful and funny too. overall this is a must buy for all REAL fans of manson who wanna know more of his earlier works. the rest of the tracks are white knuckles, white trash, misery machine(live), white trash(live) and his 1st ever recording of misery machine

4.0 out of 5 stars Genis Of The Devil Review, May 25, 2002

yes, this certainly is the genis of the devil. it is not Marilyn Manson's best work, but he's on his way up the becoming/passing of the anti-christ, the omega, and much more.
all of the live songs are recorded at Church of Preverted.
this is a great cd.
Son of Sam is like Black Sabbath's Iron Man, in that there is the same music, and some of the same words.
There is a live recording of Misery Machine, and the first ever recording of Marilyn Manson, Misery Machine. And in my opinion, if theres 2 recordings of Misery Machine, how can a cd be bad?
Also the is My Monkey, the lyrics about a monkey are taken from the infamous serial killer, Charles Manson.
