1.0 out of 5 stars
Good Idea, but TERRIBLE quality,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NES/SNES/Genesis FC3 Plus Gaming System (Video Game)
I feel a need to share my experiences regarding this system in hopes of preventing someone out there a lot of anguish. I own a video game store and started out selling these consoles. Yobo has a great idea here, and when the unit works, it is generally pretty faithful to the original. Unfortunately, the word "quality" is not in their vocabulary. I'll give you some statistics from my own experiences in selling these. I started out with 10 consoles. Three didn't work straight out of the box. Each console comes with two controllers, times 10 systems = 20 total controllers. Of these 20, 5 didn't work out of the box, another 12 broke within the first week or two of use. The 'D' pad controller is what breaks on them. Four out of twenty total light guns didn't work out of the box. The unit comes with no paper work or warranty information of ANY kind. We, however, had a warranty through our distributor so we were able to get replacements on the defective parts. However, out of all the replacements I got back, about 50% did not work or broke within the first week or so. My distributor even told me a story that one unit blew up and burst in to flames when it was plugged in! I am not alone in my experiences with this unit. Our distributor told us that it is an ongoing problem that most people have with Yobo. We have since discontinued selling this product, but are still having to replace parts for customers. If you are looking for a system that will play NES & SNES games, try the Retro-Duo system. So far, from my experience, it seems to be much better quality and it will also accept the original SNES controllers. Additionally, I have never been able to get a response from Yobo regarding any of these issues, so you will unlikely have any sort of recourse from them. I hope this information saves someone out there from all the grief that I have endured from this company.
Good Luck

4.0 out of 5 stars
Performs as advertised, but beware...,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NES/SNES/Genesis FC3 Plus Gaming System (Video Game)
I own one of these systems. As advertised, it does play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games. The graphics are generally true to the original, though they may appear grainy at times. The sound is good. The bass is really strong with Genesis games.
However, be advised that this system is not without faults: 1. NES controller mapping is backwards regarding the buttons. Even though the jump button still uses the A-button, the FC3 controller is set up like a Sega Genesis controller which means the A-button is to the left of the B-button. Of course, for NES controllers, the A-button is to the right of the B-button. This means you use the fire button to jump and vice versa. 2. The SNES has the same problem with the button mapping. Curiously, the FC3's C-button functions as an L- or R-button. It would have been nice if the C-button could have functioned as a second A button. (That would have eliminated the button mapping problem for the NES/SNES games.) 3. Castlevania 3 (NES) still does not work on this system. 4. The controllers are very light and feel cheap, but they are comfortable enough to use. Be advised that you can only use the FC3's controllers with this machine because of the shape of the plug. The wires for the controllers themselves are also not very long. (perhaps 5 feet?) The controllers have the shape of SNES controllers. 5. NES cartridges are particularly difficult to put in and take out of the system. It seems that you have to put them in at an angle. I think the FC3 Plus is a decent system, but because of the controller button mapping, it might be better to purchase an FC Twin to play NES/SNES games and just use a separate Genesis to play Genesis games. If you want to use the FC3, it would probably be better to play NES/SNES games that don't penalize you too much for accidentally pushing the B-button instead of the A-button, such as RPGs and strategy games. The Genesis emulation is definitely the best feature of this machine. If there is a way to change the button mapping for NES/SNES games and add some sort of adapter that would let you use original NES controllers, this machine would be perfect.
