First, I will start off with a complaint. Only ten songs? There is no excuse for that anymore, none. Everything else? Perfect!!! I love every single song on this album. While I also thoroughly love both of Joy's other CD's, it is easy to see that she had grown a lot in-between the second album and this. The words are deeper, in some ways, less sure of themselves--in a good way. It didn't feel like bubble gum music. They were not all simple Sunday school answers and everything's perfect. The song she wrote about her new husband (at least I am assuming she wrote it for him) is quite possibly the sweetest love song I have ever heard, not overly dramatic, just simple real love. For some reason, listening to this album made me feel proud of Joy, for the artist she is becoming and the person you hear behind the voice.

Joy Willaims is surprisingly a really great singer. I have only known about her for half a year, and this is the only album by her that I own. My older brother bought this CD for my birthday back in March, and I didn't know anything about her, but after I listened to it, I really loved it! Her music is very encouraging, and every time I pop in this CD, it makes me feel so blessed.

1. Stay - 9/10 A nice, beautiful beginning to the album, it has a good message in it too.

2. We - 10/10 Great one! This song is very uplifting, it talks about how when a person wishes he or she were like someone else, the person he envies has the same type of problem mostly, and it can really make people feel better(if you don't get what I mean, just buy this CD and listen to the song!:)

3. Say goodbye - 8/10 This one's pretty good, but it could've had a little more tune to it. But it has great lyrics.

4. Hide - 10/10 Cool! This too has a very great message, and I think so many people who DO hide from everything and shut themselves up can relate to this, and we do need to make much more appearance in our lives as christains.

5. Beautiful Redemption - 10/10 This is a great song about why we belong to God and why we're here on this earth. It talks about how often we sin, but no matter what, we're forgiven when we ask for forgiveness, and this song is also very musical, which is good.

6. Unafraid - 10/10 This is definitely another song we can relate to! It's about how we, as christains, should never be afraid to step out in the crowd and tell everyone what we believe, even though people will scoff at us, and it's something I myself have to do more often.

7. Silence - 10/10 This is probably my favorite! It always comforts me when I am upset, and it talks about why God doesn't alwasy answer our prayers immediately, and that we just need to wait and it might happen. Other than the lyrics, the tune is so beatiful in this. I love it.

8. I'm in love with you - 8/10 This one is pretty good, but not my favorite, a little too slow.

9. God only knows - 10/10 This is another song that talks about things we should think about. It's got a really great message,and talks about how God is the only One who knows what we are all going through, because He made us.

10. Child of Eden - 10/10 The lyrics in this are so true, we are all children of Eden because we have all sinned, we have mocked God and decieved Him many times in our lives, since we were born, and this song also tells us that we are forgiven for them if we were chosen by Jesus Christ Himslef.

Anyway, very good CD! Please buy it, even if you are not a christain because if you do, this could really touch you and change your heart and ways forever! I am saying this because I mean it, trust me, if you have the love of Christ, then you are safe and will spend eternity with Him in Heaven, so please think about what I said here and buy this album, see what you think of it!

This album is absolutely AWESOME! If you are looking for a refreshing album to pump you up and remind you of how you felt when you first became a Christian, or if you do not yet know the awesome love that Christ has for you, definitley buy this album! The first time I heard the songs most of them made me cry tears of joy because I was reminded of the neverending passion that Christ loves each one of us with. This album is great for anyone no matter where you are in life. God really blesses Joy Williams through the gift of music and works through her to reach others. Congratualations Joy, I think this album is your best one yet!!

'Genesis' features Joy's great voice and lyrics. This album has a few really good songs. I particularly like 'Hide', 'Beautiful Redemption', 'Silence', and 'God Only Knows'.

Her songs feature lyrics that reflect issues that most of us experience. 'Silence' deals with praying and wondering if God is listening. He is, but there are times when most of us wonder due to our own shortcomings. Another one that has absolutely superb lyrics is 'Hide'. It is very catchy and gets played fairly often on Christian radio.

Although there are a few songs that I think are just ok, the ones that are good make this album worth the cost. I recommend it.

I was introduced to Joy William's music through my kids who LOVED her songs. On her first two CDs, I found a few songs that I liked. But this CD is full of great songs for grown ups as well as teens looking for pop music with a great message. Dance to these songs, sing them out loud, put them on your IPod for work out times, this is for all ages and all stages of life.

Joy Williams' Genesis album is a massive difference from her By Surprise album. By Surprise was mainly a mellow album that you could enjoy in the office, Genesis is the exact opposite. I could honestly picture Joy rocking out on stage for a few of these songs, something that Joy couldn't do on any of the By Surprise songs. And like the other reviewers have already said her voice does have a different sound on this album, not that that's bad. All in all this album is still worth a good 4 stars and it's without question that she will find an additional audience.

You will want to listen to this CD over and over and over and over...

This was a great kick off for Joy William's song writing adventures. The songs are an intimate reflection of the mind and heart of an intelligent young woman. I reccommend buying it.

I am a huge fan of Joy Williams. I found her original album to be a little bleak, as far as the material went, but her voice is amazing. Her second album "By Surprise" kept me in love with her, this time thanks to the stellar material. Williams latest release, "Genesis" reminded me why I love her so much. Every song is catchy and cool, and all have a wonderful, inspirational message. I love Joy Williams and can't wait for album number 4. ALSO, check out "Brave" by Nichole Nordeman - brilliant.

Joy Williams is my favorite Christian singer out there: her passion in her songs and her honesty with the lyrics are two things that we don't normally see in the music industry. I first discovered who Joy Williams was through her song "Hide" that was being played constantly on the Christian radio stations before the release of her album "Genesis." I thought at first that the song was all right but when I really listened to it, I found that this song is relating to not just the world but to Christians as well.

There are ten tracks on this CD, but each have different meanings that apply to every rough road that Christians have walked in this life. For example, the first track "Stay" tells us not to run from the situations that haunt us in life but face them; or track five "Beautiful Redemption" which talks about how evil our hearts are but Jesus has saved us from that washing us clean and will do that every day; or track nine "God Only Knows" that says people may think that they understand what is raging in each of our hearts but when the truth is truly revealed, only Jesus really understands us.

Joy uses plain and simple language to get these messages across: that's why her music is so honest and real. She is not putting on a show: she is doing it from her heart. This is an amazing CD. You won't be disappointed.
