5.0 out of 5 stars Genesis- A Joyfully Recommended Title, August 13, 2007
This review is from: Genesis (Paperback)
Bri is a late 20's woman who is traveling in an unfamiliar area and when she can't find a hotel room on the main drag she tries to find one on a back road. The only thing she finds is that she is lost in the middle of nowhere and then, to make matters worse, her car suddenly dies. It doesn't take her long to figure out that something is not right when she is blinded by a light. The next thing she remembers is floating and then odd shaped beings as well as robots. She wakes up in a hotel room, but when she examines it closer she finds that everything is faux, the TV is a box, and the mattress is a plastic rectangle. Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make an elaborate hoax. After more drugged dreams she wakes up with a hard collar around her neck. When the collar sends her outside to escape the pain it inflicts, she is stunned to see other beings. There are very hot looking men that are similar to humans, but with a number of differences, such as their size and skin color.

Bri determines that the other woman in the neighboring area is also from Earth. But, of course, she only speaks Spanish, which Bri only understands about 3 words of. As time goes by, Bri tries to make the best of the situation and even cares for a baby that is left on her doorstep. It is easy to determine that the baby is the same race as the men, by the coloring and build. But, she can't help but learn to love it.

Kole is the warrior that Bri first notices. She also notices that there are other similar warriors. Kole was also abducted and he knows a little about the slavers who have abducted Bri. He has been on this ship longer and forced to breed with the women of his race that were also taken. But their women don't want to be slaves and either kill themselves or their children when they are born. This has lead to the abduction of the Earth women. The slavers only want male babies so, when they force the women together with the warriors, they will force them to be with different warriors to make sure they get the babies they want. While it isn't the situation that she would have dreamed of for her life she finds she is attracted to Kole and also to the second male she is forced to stay with, Dansk. How will they all deal with the slavery and grueling tasks the aliens set forth for them.

Genesis is a very interesting look into the possible abduction of humans for the purpose of creating a new race. Kaitlyn O'Connor takes the needed time to set up the scenario, and gives you a look into the head of those dealing with the situation as well as the language barriers that are bound to happen. She knows how to write hot love scenes as well as sassy characters. Genesis pulled me in and made me think about how I would handle a similar situation. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested in the possibility that "there is other life out there" and likes a steamy read.

This book was so hot I am surprised the pages were not sizzling. I could not put his book down, and was upset when I had to go to bed and finish it the next day. This book is well worth the read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Will do if you need to waste some time, April 25, 2011

I've read the entire "Enslaved" series, and this was actually my least favorite. I found Bri a tad annoying. Yes I understand that she speaks English but the people she's speaking to (Kole and Consuelo) do not. While they're going out of their way to pick up English in order to communicate with her, she's complaining but doing absolutely nothing to help improve that, as if learning their language was too much of an effort.

I liked Kole, one of the 'heroes', and found that he was very sweet. I liked that he was overly protective and didn't want anyone to touch Bri despite the fact that he was forced to have sex with other people just like she was. I also liked Dansk, but wished he would have found someone else, not because he was or wasn't good enough for Bri... but because I prefer monogamous relationships, and I liked Kohl better.

Like some others have mentioned, I found the inclusion of Consuelo a little strange. Why include someone in the story only to suddenly kill them off? Was it because she liked Dansk and they would have ended up together, rather than having him end up with Bri and Kohl? That could have worked. I thought it weird that not only did she die, but so did her unborn baby and the kid she was toting, and yet no one seemed to really care... and I mean NO ONE. My other complaint is that the ending is so incredibly abrupt and rushed. Somehow someone saves them and that's it, its happily ever-after. Huh? It made no sense.

The story is good enough to read when you have nothing better to do, but I would not recommend "Genesis" if you wanted to get into a good book.

PSA *This novel also includes abortion, so if you're sensitive to the topic, I'd avoid this novel*

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall interesting erotic read, September 13, 2007

This review is from: Genesis (Paperback)
I liked the story, even the near graphic violence had it's place. The only part that disturbs me is the ending. It was sudden, with the authors attempt at good description thoughout the book to come to a sudden end; just didn't set well with me.
If the auther chose to expand on the planet enviroment and new culture at the end, it would have been a better read. Overall, again lot's of sex, intense erotic situations, good attempt to explain an alien abduction situation. Still worth an interesting summer read.

4.0 out of 5 stars had some flaws, but still very good, July 27, 2008

Like at least one other reviewer, I really didn't like it that the author developed a secondary character and then just disposed of her (and a child), when her existence complicated the plot. Why didn't the author write it a little differently to begin with? Other than this glaring flaw, the story was very good sci-fi, action, romance. Kaitlyn O'Connor generally writes a really good story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alien/human romance, September 27, 2011

There isn't a lot of romance, but it's different from your normal romance story. If you're looking for a little sex in your female point of view sci-fi, this might be for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, July 2, 2011

This review is from: Genesis (Paperback)
I really liked this book. I love all fantasy books but this is the 1st Sci-Fi/Romance. I was unsure if it would be for me considering the alien abduction aspect but it quickly took off & caught my attention. There are some really funny/ironic parts to the book but basically an alien race has abducted Earth Woman & Hirahi Men & inslaved them. The woman are to be breed since the Hirahi woman were to difficult. The Hirahi men are very strong, intellegent warrior beings. They can live underwater & on land (which is really cool). The main character is Bri who is one of the Earth woman who was abducted. This is told from her POV. She is put with 2 different males to breed with, which causes some problems. They arrive to the destination planet & try to come up with a plan of attack for freedom. The ending was good & realistic. This books has graphic sexual scenes as well as action, murder, & romance. I would recommend it. I will move on to the 2nd book in this series.

I read this whole series! After you read the first one than you won't be able to stop. I actually read them out of order. The second book in this series's is great too. I highly recommend them because sex sense are great, but don't make up the entire book. You really get sucked in to their world. There are three in this series total! ( so far). We can wish for more!
