Thought provoking alternative history,

This review is from: The Genesis Race: Our Extraterrestrial DNA and the True Origins of the Species (Paperback)
The author discusses the concept of myth, with reference to Sumeria, Babylon and Troy that turned out to have been real, and the Great Flood, a myth which is found in more than 200 cultures around the world and may be based on events during the end of the last ice age.He looks at ancient Sumeria, Mexico and Peru and discusses the advanced mathematics of these so-called primitive peoples. Ancient Egypt and Mohenjo Daro are also investigated, as is the sudden appearance of domesticated plants and animals. The sections on metallurgy, ice ages, cataclysms and the mysterious Civilization X are never less than gripping, as is his discussion of chronological cycles, the Maya calendar and our possible cosmic ancestry. Hart reaches the same conclusion as Von Daniken and Sitchin: humanity is the result of a genetic cloning experiment by an advanced race that lived among their creatures in ancient times. The Genesis Race provides fascinating reading and those who enjoy this book will also benefit from reading the works of Zecharia Sitchin.

Many directions leading to another view,

Not a new theory--that we are the result of extraterrestrial visitations at the dawn of civilization. Hart's story generally mirrors Zechariah Stitchin's and Erich von Danigan's beliefs. However, the book is anchored less in specific myths and takes a more thoughtful and general approach. Hart comes at the issue from many directions, contending that "cultural darwinism" does not explain the spotty, but nearly simultaneous, leaps toward civilization occuring in China, Mesopotamia, India and the New World. The Extraterrestrials, he believes, are basically like us, not ET. He says nothing regarding where they originate or why they came. He misses the obvious alternate theory, that "superior humans" who founded these civilizations are remnants (or returnees) of prior civilizations destroyed by cyclic cataclysms. A good book pulling together a lot of facts in a reasonably compact space.

I am an avid reader of ancient history and ancient theology and found Will's book, The Genesis Race', to be an informative example of what many see in the world relative to ancient writings. For the beginner, and the seasoned alike, this book brings forth the ideas and theories many of us are in search of. It is a great book to have on the shelf when others ask, 'What is our past?' Thanks Will, keep up the good work!

I'll make this real quick. This book is basically a re-hash of existing material written in greater depth by others, such as Zechariah Sitchin's series of books starting with the "12th Planet". This book really isn't even good enough for beginners on the subject, as the author jumps from subject to subject with little continuity. This is at best an appetizer for the main course.

This book is great and I recommend it as a first read for anyone interested in the subject of possible Alien intervention with early humans here on Earth. The information provided is quite compelling and those with an open mind will find it quite fascinating.
Most of the ancient civilizations that performed impressive feats (pyramids, etc.) all did so during the same time frame. Particular crop staples all appeared across the world at the same time (rice, wheat & corn) with no prior history of those crops to be found. Metallurgy developed at the same time. Interestingly, all old religions from the peoples who had these advanced developments claim they were given to them or taught to them by "the Gods". What if our idea of a God or Gods is different from what they were calling Gods? Their descriptions indicate these Gods' lived among them and taught them these things. If an advanced culture were to come to Earth and help out the uncivilized natives, what would the perceptions of those natives be of those who came to them "from the sky" to teach them these marvelous things? All very interesting concepts and ideas to consider. I have several books on this subject, including some of those by Stichin, a linguist who has spent many years interpreting the Sumerian writings. I have a hard time with Stichin's writings and often find myself skipping sections or find my mind wandering. Other authors on the topic often lack credibility or are pushing their own agenda. This book however, is easy to read, gives just enough info to keep you interested and offers good references for data provided. I think that because the author is a journalist, he was able to analyze the plethora of information, boil it down to the key bits of information that prove a point or perhaps open up an idea that cannot be proved, and write it all in a form that keeps you interest throughout. My husband who never reads this stuff even read it and found it quite fascinating as well. I recommend this to all my friends who are open to the idea of another creation story besides the only two currently considered by most Western cultures (A Supreme God Creator or Evolution). One can still read this and keep a sense of spirituality - it just makes you think about it a bit deeper and may skew your original ideas a bit. For those who've never been able to accept the God or Evolution idea - this is a great book for you. It provides quite convincing information on a very real possibility on how certain things came to be; and why there are so many advanced civilizations from the far past who've accomplished things that don't make sense or that are more advanced than even we can do today (the Mayan calendar, for example...) Anyways, Great read!!

All of the "For Beginners Only" reviews not withstanding, this is a good book. I personally am as up to date on most other writers in this genre as anyone else, and I could not put this book down. Overall, it's clear and concise, well researched, and well-written. The author does a better job of linking his theory to modern religion and mythology than Sitchin, in my opinion. I recommend it highly!

The Genesis Race,

Since I have had my own theories about evolution and the origin of humanity for some time now, I decided to purchase the Genesis Race more recently to find out what is new on the subject.
The author writes about many ancient mythologies like Sumeria and Babylon which have now been proven to have existed, together with the Great Flood some 12,000 years ago and other myths found in many ancient cultures around the globe concerning the origin af humanity. He also points to the sudden appearance of certain animals and plant life and looks at advenced technologies used by the ancient so called "primitive people," making one wonder, where these technologies came from, if ancient humans were so primitive as modern science wants us to believe. Will Hart comes to the conclusion (which is also my own opinion), that humans are the result of genetic manipulation or cloning experiments carried out by an advanced race (as modern scvience is conducting now with animals and humans), which lived n ancient times. It is not a new theory! It has been written about by many others that humanity is the result of experimentation by extraterrestrials. Hart approaches the subject matter from many angles, querying Darwins theory of evolution, (which does not even qualify as a theory). He regards the Extraterrestrials, as being human like but leaves their origin to the imagination of the reader. He fails however to mention an obvious alternative, "the left overs of an advanced and obviously superior human like civilisation" that existed before major changes affected the earth, and destroyed them. Having read some of Erich von Daenikans books, I sense a deep familiarity with his work. The Genesis Race is a good book to read with some interesting facts and theories. The author points out that much of human kind took a turn away from hunter gathering about 5000 years ago and suddenly started employing vast skills in math, architecture, farming and other things. He calls into question the likely hood of this happening without help and then uses evidence from myth, stories handed down over generations and other sources to show that extraterrestrials provided the help and that their DNA is with us today. Very interesting and far more than just plausible.
