This book by Doug Jacoby is really good. I don't know why the previous reviewer gave it a low rating and still enjoyed the book. At any rate, this book will inspire your faith. You will learn to approach and understand Genesis in a different light. Doug Jacoby is not dogmatic at all. He is open and presents his thoughts clearly. He even gives you his e-mail address if you have any suggestions. This book is a classic for understanding Genesis.

Format: Paperback
Doug has an extensive academic background that includes biblical languages, Christian apologetics with public debating, and vast experience with and knowledge of other religions and belief systems. How many people of different faith systems have defended their beliefs before public audiences against leaders of different faiths? How many people can stand before crowds of people and soundly defend their beliefs while taking any question a person can throw at them? This is the kind of responsible and experienced author/teacher that Douglas Jacoby is. He is a man who chooses to follow the Christian faith but does not neglect other belief systems by writing them off. He reads their literature, does his research, and equips himself with understanding and knowledge. For example, he has encountered people from different faiths who have told him they do not believe in the Bible and Jesus. When he asks some of these people if they have ever read the entire Bible, they say no. When they ask him if he has ever read their doctrine (e.g., Qu'ran, Book of Mormon, etc.) he can say yes. In fact, he has read books like the Qu'ran more than once and many, if not all, of the other materials that support other belief systems!

This particular book came to be after a lot of in-depth research. Does he provide all of the answers? Of course not, God cannot be analyzed in a jar like some scientific experiment. This book does, however, provide tremendous insight into biblical facts and provocative theories about the relationship between Christianity and science. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to those who are looking for a book written by a author who has a great reputation for carefully and responsibly handling the Word of God and not limiting himself to a narrow-minded understanding of only one belief system.

It gives its own view of Genesis. The first eleven chapters of the book of genesis are hard to understand. This will help some.
