Product Description

Product Description

GenevaSound Large in Walnut is the first of its kind to feature genuine hardwood veneer. From Switzerland, GenevaSound is "furniture music" – a renewed fusion of home entertainment and home décor that brings technology and design full circle. Visually, Geneva is a classic design statement. But beyond its striking simplicity, Geneva’s clean lines embody an advanced acoustical array that's won the highest marks from leading audio reviewers. One look at GenevaSound reveals why it's sold in leading design and fashion houses from Milan to Manhattan. Listen to Geneva Sound and you’ll know why its patented audio engineering is found in recording studios that repeatedly win Grammies and Oscars. Never before have such a variety of functions been integrated into one compact cabinet - a complete, powerful hifi system with a slot-loading CD player, an iPod-iPhone dock, a radio tuner with digital presets, and line-in jacks. Leading reviewers say it's the easiest multi-function stereo ever. Geneva Sound Large delivers room-filling sound, thanks to the power of its four 25 watt amplifiers, for a total of 100 watts of Class D amplification, a new generation of extremely efficient, low-power-consumption amplifiers. On the top of the GenevaSound Large is a slot-loading CD player. Ahead of the CD slot is the 30-pin iPod+iPhone connector hidden under a flip-up lid. Embedded in the GenevaSound cabinet is a digital radio tuner; no tabletop radio has ever sounded this big before. Setting your favorite stations as a present in the remote control has never been easier. GenevaSound Large also has auxiliary line-in connections - 3.5 mm and also RCA. These can bring in sound from almost any audio device. The cabinet measures: height 11.5 inches, depth 14.2 inches, width 17.6 inches. It weighs 38 pounds. This model comes with brushed aluminum feet with rubberized footpads. There are optional floor pedestals.

Geneva Sound System Model L
A true hi-fi multi-functional sound system with a classic design statement

Geneva Sound System Model L is the system that convinced audio critics to declare the arrival of a design that finally "lifts the iPod into the realms of hi-fi status." (Record Collector, UK). The first in the world to fuse an iPod/iPhone connector to a high-end system, the Model L has two full-sized speakers, a premium amplifier, radio, and CD player, to make a true hi-fi multi-functional sound system.

Geneva Sound System Model L
Engineered to ensure exceptional sound delivery

From the Swiss firm that invented hi-fi for the iPod, the Geneva Sound System Model L is a complete stereo system crafted in a single cabinet made out of glossy lacquered wood. Despite its compact design, Model L is engineered in a similar way as traditional studio speakers, which ensures exceptional sound delivery from the deepest bass to crystal clear highs.

Visually, Geneva is a classic design statement. But beyond its striking simplicity, Geneva's clean lines embody an advanced acoustical array that's won the highest marks from leading audio reviewers.

All-In-One Sound System

Geneva Sound Model L features two full-range 5.25" woofers and two 1" tweeters, driven by four Class D digital amplifiers that are extremely efficient, with low power consumption. Each speaker is individually powered and chambered for accurate acoustics. Two bass ports with dynamic loudness provide surprising punch for such a small system. Add an optional floor stand in satin nickel (sold separately) for more versatile placement and a showpiece quality.

The Model L can dock and charge virtually any model of iPod, iPod nano, iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. Dock adapters are included to fit your device.

In addition to playing your favorite iPod or iPhone tunes, the Model L includes an FM radio, a slot-loading CD player as well line-in jacks (3.5. mm stereo mini or stereo RCA) that allow connection to any external source, from TVs to turntables.

LED Display

An LED display shows volume, mode, track, and frequency information. The digital FM radio features six presets to store your favorite stations with control via the included IR remote control.

What's in the Box

Geneva Sound Model L, remote control, iPod Dock Adapters (7 pieces), AC power cable, external FM wire antenna, 3.5mm adapter cable for stereo line-in, 3m RCA line-in cable, warranty.

Back in the day, actually before my time, televisions and stereos were designed to be both functional and beautiful - they were considered furniture, an essential complement to a well-designed room. Now, of course, function trumps form for most electronic gadgets, and most are ugly. With the advent of flat screen LCD televisions at least they don't look like the hulking monstrosities that overwhelm the room like the big TVs of the past couple decades, but it's still true that a decent sound system tends to be a box covered with buttons and indicators, and connected by endless wires to a range of speakers spread throughout the room.

That's not necessary if you've got one of these Geneva Sound L systems in the living room. It's an elegant blend of form and function - the sound is astonishing, especially considering that it all comes from a single wooden box. Did I mention wooden? The walnut variety, which is the one I've tried, is not just walnut coloring, it's actually encased in wood, and the metallic grating that covers the multiple speakers inside is just the right tint to match it perfectly. The whole system is small enough not to get in the way, but it delivers 100 Watts of stereo surround sound that can really fill a room for an immersive musical or theatrical sound experience.

Geneva Lab is known for setting an early high fidelity sound and design standard for iPod docking systems. This one is at the middle of their range -- they have one that's a bit bigger and one that's a lot bigger and a few smaller ones. I only have experience with this one and the smaller S model. For me and for my living room I can't imagine needing anything more.

The first quality I appreciated in an innumerable list of assets for the GenevaSound Stereo--and the one aspect of this unit which readers will probably be most delighted to read--is the separation of sound this system offers, and the ability of the GenevaSound Stereo to offer TRUE bass sound from a plethora of music genres and styles--and even bass buttons on the remote, allowing for the exact amount of bass the listener prefers! This player far exceeds any other comparable unit I've heard and/or purchased in regard to eliciting bass effectively, and separating it from the midrange sounds. "Midrange" is the target for many single-unit stereos like Bose, who don't mind sacrificing range for efficiency; and from the popularity of the Bose system, their customers don't mind trading quality sound for one-plug simplicity, either. But for those music lovers like me, who actually want to hear McCartney's bass riffs on "Revolver," or the driving bass drum and tom-toms of Philly Jo Jones, and who have purchased Bose and other units, only to be bitterly disappointed when that first CD or Mp3 plays, delivering a flat, bass-less drone of sound, the discovery of the GenevaSound system is a Godsend. This system has so many qualities, I will not waste the readers time by trying to describe them all. Instead, I suggest you review the Amazon.com video which accompanies the GenevaSound sales page; or go to genevalab.com for further insights and information. Yes, you will pay a few hundred dollars more for the quality materials that go into producing the GenevaSound Stereos, the European craftsmanship, and the superior sound. But if you begin with this system (or curtail a seemingly endless search for quality sound similar to the one on which I embarked), you will, in the end, save yourself money foolishly thrown away on inferior systems--not to mention reaping the rewards of the finest single-unit sound system you will ever own.

It was aChristmas gift for my husband and was worth every penny. He enjoys using it to play his favorite music. It is easy to operate and the sound is terrific - I would say better than my Bose.

I didn't think I'd ever describe a speaker as being sexy, but I just did. Not only does it look good, but it sounds excellent as well. $1000 is a lot of money, but you're really paying for the quality of the product. All of Geneva's speakers are made of wood resulting in very high quality sound. On top of that, its elegant and sophisticated design looks great in almost any room.

If you have the $1000 to spare on a sound system you should definitely purchase this. If you don't quite have the money and you still want a quality speaker then you should invest in the M or S. The M can put out a lot of sound too--which is especially surprising considering its size.
