At 21 months, my son is already learning so much from this book. Besides working on pronouncing "Genevieve" he has learned the word "heart" and where to locate it on himself and others. He clearly sees that his heart is not just a function of his body, but a place where feeling comes from.

This book teaches about these feelings through the beautiful story of a young girl's experience of truly sharing from her heart. The story and the colorful illustrations show children and adults taking a moment to "check in". My son gets this. Since reading Genevieve's Gift he puts his hands on his heart every day and takes a long meaningful breath.

As a mother and a nutritional counselor (recognizing the need for more quiet, thoughtful and creative moments in children's lives), I highly recommend this book to children of all ages. It is no surprise to me that children connect instantly with this book and I am excited for the opportunities available to adults reading it as well. It is a wonderful reminder for all of us.

Genevieve's Gift is a charming story of a little girl in search of the perfect gift for her best friend.
Through Genevieve's story we are shown how to listen to our intuition (or gut feelings) and follow our hearts.
I was happy to be reminded of such things myself.

This story reminds children (and everyone for that matter) that we all have internal gifts, if only we can believe in ourselves enough to express them.

I found this book to be sweet and engaging. I also like the simple meditation, which serves as a gentle reminder to connect back to one's self when in doubt.

I plan on giving this book to a friends daughter who loves to write, sing, and draw just like Genevieve. I know that it will sever to foster her own creativity and unique gifts, while teaching her to honor herself at the same time. This is a wonderful light-hearted story with a deep message.

What's so terrific about "Genevieve's Gift" is that it is much more than a simple story. It teaches an important lesson about listening to your heart that helps kids make decisions, relate to teachers, siblings, and friends, and develop a stronger sense of self. Ms. Serluca-Foster also takes the seemingly complex act of meditation and makes it incredibly accessible, even for the very young.

Most importantly, it doesn't "dumb down" really critical issues like self-esteem, courage and creativity, but works them into a compelling story to which many kids will relate.

The illustrations are wonderful, and the meditation tips at the end make the book a wonderful tool for child care workers, teachers and of course, parents. I highly recommend this joyful, instructive story.

While I was working at Mercy Center, a community based organization in the South Bronx, New York, the author was invited to come and read the story to the children in our after school program.

Genevieve's Gift is a moving short story of courage, of learning to find your own special voice and the power of the "self". It is important for children of all ages to learn to listen to their own goodness and give the world their gifts and talents to share.

The children in our program were so caught up in the story; they were asked to draw pictures after the reading, and encouraged to find their own voices. It was a wonderful experience. I am so glad to see that the book has finally been published. I hope this labor of love leads to other books.

My kids really got into this book. It is a cute, fun story with delightful illustrations, and my kids were totally involved with the main character, they really felt for her. I love the book's empowering message, it is a real feel-good book.

I have never seen such a beautiful and well written chhildren's book that teaches you so much in such a simple way.. I plan on sharing this with all my friend's with children..
