The Genie DirectLift Plus Screw Drive 3860 utilizes a heavy-duty 1/2-horsepower AC motor. Its patented Direct Drive system provides maximum lifting power with a fraction of the moving parts found in other garage door openers. Fewer moving parts means greater reliability. As the original screw drive manufacturer, Genie has been dedicated to providing the most complete garage door opening systems for more than 50 years. Automatic 120-Watt lighting system for safer evening exits and entries. Comprehensive six-part Safe-T-Beam-Package meets or exceeds all UL, state, federal and CSA regulations and incorporates an auto reversing system that stops and reverses door when interrupted and LED diagnostics. A couple years ago I bought this opener to replace a 20-year-old failing unit. I was very impressed with the quality of the manufacturing, design, smooth operation and ease of installation. Particularly impressive was the installation documentation. It is written in clear and detailed English (as a first language). The illustrations were very well done and plentiful. It left no guesswork and all steps were clear.

I was so impressed that when the second opener needed replacement I bought another Genie. I just finished installing it.

The 7 buildings where I live all received new roll up garage doors and Gene electric openers over the past two weeks.
Two garages each building. 14 doors. Professionally installed.

I ordered the entry keypad at Amazon Sunday evening.
My building was done Monday.
Outside Gene brand wireless keypad arrived Wednesday.
A lot easier than using the remote to open the door each time.
No inside garage entry, must open whole door to access garage.

56 years ago Gene started their power lift garage door thing. 1954
The number 1 supplier in the world.

Now I see why.

Highly recommend this brand above all others.

Beware

I have had two Genie garage door openers in the past 11 years. Each one has had their problems with the electronic motherboards. When the heat of summer or the cold of winter come, the doors began to act up: opening and lowering at their own will. Then they stopped working, and began to work on their own. Then the doors would not open at all. Finally, it became a danger when the doors would close half way on their own, almost crushing my daughters, 2 and 3 yrs old. The doors also crushed the back end of my cars, leaving deep creases on the trunks and roof.

I called and spoke to a Genie representative, who upon hearing of the near injuries to my young daughters, and vehicle damage said that Genie was terrible sorry and that they would reimburse for any damages to my vehicles and would replace the Genie equipment. They sent me out two motherboards by mail to be replace by a certified technician, with whom they contracted. This did not fix the problem! The doors were working exactly as they were before the technician replaced the defective parts.

Upon my return call to Genie, I was told by the same representitive that the case was closed. In disbelief, I asked why if nothing was resolved? The representative conveyed to me that because the unit's motherboards were replaced, and that the warranties were void; that Genie was no longer responsible. I explained to her that Genie sent out their technician; and Genie sent out the motherboards--all at their direction. They refused to pay for the damages to my vehicles, or replacde the door units, and more importantly, ignored the fact that these products are a danger to not only to vehicles, but especially to small children. I explained to the Genie representative that Genie was reponsible for the Genie technician coming out and replacing the motherboards; that I should not be responsible for the warranty "now" being void. She responded "read your warranty. CASE CLOSED! Goodbye!"

What a SCAM!!!!

Liftmaster. If you want a quality product with a great warranty and a company with the integrity to back up their product.
