3.0 out of 5 stars Works okay, a couple of issues., May 16, 2011

Good product.
Here are the highs and the lows:

Installed and programmed without any problems.
Big, convenient buttons.
Backlight is a plus.

Small issues:

Input rate:
You have to take it slow punching in the code; No quicker than 2 buttons a second.
If you go too fast, no matter how accurate you are, it will not accept the code.

Cover issue reported by other users:
The reason are the two small round knobs that snap into the tabs on the base and serve as the pivot points for the cover.
Those knobs are too small and flimsy, so after a while I can see them wearing smaller and thinner, and eventually slipping out of place, resulting in the cover falling off.
Preemptively, I have drilled holes from the sides of the cover, straight through the middle of those knobs, inserted thin #6 screws (not unlike the ones that hold the electrical outlet covers in place) through the drilled holes, and used a few drops of epoxy to make them stay in place. Hopefully, reinforced by these bolts, the hinge will hold stronger.
If you decide to do that yourself, be sure to measure it thoroughly so that you go exactly through the center of the knobs.
I just can't understand how the manufacturer hasn't thought of reinforcing the hinge like that.

I'll see how long it lasts. My hopes is that the electronic parts are more solid than the mechanical ones.
All that said, I am happy with this product so far.

Oh, the last thing: Despite the description, there was no visor clip included. Doesn't matter to me, as I mounted it on the wall, but if you need one, there might not be one in the box.

My keypad arrived in perfect condition and on time as promised. The product description states...

390Mhz Genie Intellicode keypad

Don't be looking for a visor clip because there isn't one. I bought this to mount outside on the garage door opening anyway; but I had considered buying another one to leave in my car that is parked outside in the driveway. That way if someone gets in the car they still can't open the garage door without the code. That would be nice if it included the advertised visor clip. Also the only buttons that light up are the 2, 5 ,and 8 buttons which is the way it is supposed to be according to Genie Company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Garage Door Entry Made Easy, September 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Genie GWKIC(Updated model #:GWKP) Intellicode Keyless Entry Pad (Misc.)
We passed on having the builder install a wireless key pad for the garage door which would have cost $150 if the builder installed it. We ordered the Genie wireless control unit thru Amazon for about $26.00. Installation was incredibly simple. I inserted the battery, used the Intellicode function on the garage door unit to have the remote learn the code and then pre drilled the mounting screw holes and drove in the screws to mount the unit on the outside of the door. Total time was less than 5 minutes. Unit worked perfectly first time and ever time.
