Not very durable,

The unit installs and works well, but it doesn't seem to be very durable. The front cover easily becomes disconnected at the hinge during normal operation. The unit worked well for about a year, but it now completely fails to operate the door.

Good product. Here are the highs and the lows: Installed and programmed without any problems. Big, convenient buttons. Backlight is a plus. Small issues: Input rate: You have to take it slow punching in the code; No quicker than 2 buttons a second. If you go too fast, no matter how accurate you are, it will not accept the code. Cover issue reported by other users: The reason are the two small round knobs that snap into the tabs on the base and serve as the pivot points for the cover. Those knobs are too small and flimsy, so after a while I can see them wearing smaller and thinner, and eventually slipping out of place, resulting in the cover falling off. Preemptively, I have drilled holes from the sides of the cover, straight through the middle of those knobs, inserted thin #6 screws (not unlike the ones that hold the electrical outlet covers in place) through the drilled holes, and used a few drops of epoxy to make them stay in place. Hopefully, reinforced by these bolts, the hinge will hold stronger. If you decide to do that yourself, be sure to measure it thoroughly so that you go exactly through the center of the knobs. I just can't understand how the manufacturer hasn't thought of reinforcing the hinge like that. I'll see how long it lasts. My hopes is that the electronic parts are more solid than the mechanical ones. All that said, I am happy with this product so far.

3 years living with Genie Wireless keypad,

I've purchased the wireless keypad about 3 years ago when I had my Genie belt driven door opener installed. I live in Albuquerque, NM, and the weather never seems to get to extreme in the winters or summers (very little rain also). My house also faces south with direct sunlight on the wireless keypad 90% of the time. This keypad has performed flawlessly since the installation. The color of the remote looks a little faded and my daughter broke the front cover off about 2 years ago; but, this unit has never failed to perform as advertised. The numbers of the buttons don't look worn and the keypad's backlighting still works. I usually change the 9v battery once a year and the keypad maintains its programming during the exchange. My only gripe would be the cover breaking so easily and you have to replace the whole unit (the plastic on top of keypad broke and you cannot connect the cover to it). Having this keypad outside the garage is a must have when you have kids around the house and in-laws that come to visit often.

Works but CHEAPLY MADE,

Received this keypad with my Genie Excelerator garage door opener purchased from Home Depot. Keypad works well but plastic cover is so poorly designed it come off everytime you open it - very frustrating that something so small could be overlooked by Genie. Plastic tabs are desinged so poorly it makes you wonder if Genie put a similar lack of integrity into the opener itself.

Handy device. Very easy to install and to set up with two garage door openers. It took me 15-20 minutes from opening the box to using it. It is compatible with Overhead Door Corp. openers with Codedodger which is what I bought it for.

EASY INSTALLATION,

I bought this so I could open/close my garage door from someplace besides the door going into my house. No more do I have to hit the button, run across my garage door, hop over the sensor eyes, all while ducking the door as it closes. I lose the feel of Indiana Jones, but make life easier in return.

This opener was easy to set up with directions printed inside the lid of the device. Set-up a PIN, push a button on the door opener, enter your PIN, push a button, and you're done. Took all of 5 minutes and mounts easily too. Like described elsewhere, this opener stays "on" for around 30 seconds after entering your code...a good/bad feature depending on the individual.

The wireless keypad took less than 10 minutes to install, including programming the opener and keypad and mounting. It's well designed, providing lighted key feedback and should handle winters in Ohio. Best of all, now I no longer get phone calls from my son when he forgets his house key.
