Genie Limit Switch,

This replacement Genie limit switch works just fine. I am happy with it's performance and durability. One thing...the attaching screw/screw-hole were very tight and seemed to need to be threaded before installing, i.e. I needed to insert screw into screw-hole and carefully turn and thread before I could install the limit switch. Otherwise, it is a perfect replacement. FYI: Since I only really needed a new spring, I checked spring manufacturers and saw they make paper clips too...voilà, I used a paper clip to temporarily (could have been permanently) fix my old limit switch until I received this replacement. Spring, paper clip...same flexible material.

After over 20 years, the limit switch gave out on my Genie garage door opener. Could not find the switch in any of the usual stores I shop at. Gave Amazon a try and they had the switch. Ordered 2 right away as the limit switch is on both ends of the rail that the track runs on. Replaced only the broken switch and it still works great after more than 6 months. Had absolutely no problems with the vendor and it arrived quickly. It was the exact same part number as the part it replaced.

I just moved into a new house and one of the garage door openers was not working well. The door opened without a problem but did not close consistently. The door would close but then would automatically open again after hitting the floor for a second. I disengaged the door from the opener and determined that the limit switch did not signal the opener to stop. The door was hitting the floor and returning because of a force sensing safety feature. To my surprise HD did not carry the switch as a replacement part so I had to order it online. This limit switch arrived quickly. It fit my Genie screw-drive track as expected, and is functioning perfectly after 3 months of usage.

I purchased the limit switch to replace one that is over 16 years old. This is an identical match and was simple to install in minutes. Shipping was quick.

Great replacement part. Seems to be a little better made then the original.
Works great, easy to install. One simple screw holds it in place. Got it from Sanford & Sons. Very fast delivery and good prices.

I just bought a 60 year old house that had two 30+ year old Genie garage door openers. The owners of the past 8 years were mechanically disinclined to the point of comedy, so much so that the broken uper limit switch on one of the door openers was replaced with a wine bottle cork at the extreme end of open travel. The *thunk* would wake my kids and trigger seismographs 50 miles away. This switch worked perfectly. Like other reviewers, the hole for the set screw was tight and unthreaded, but nothing that simply driving the screw through the hole didn't fix. Doesn't come with instructions, but didn't need too, but since it might help others (such as the previous owners of my house), here's some instructions: AS ALWAYS, REMOVE POWER FROM A DEVICE YOU'RE WORKING ON BEFORE YOU WORK ON IT. 1) Observe the limit switch you're trying to replace, noting which side of the track the trigger is on and where the wires attach. For installing the "open" switch, close the garage door, and for the "close" switch, open the garage door. 2) Remove the old limit switch, noting where the trigger was on the track. 3) Insert the new set screw in the new limit switch hole. This requires a nut driver as the limit switch is not slotted. Thread it through the hole plus an extra turn. 4) Stand on a ladder, milk crate, or other device such that you can get to the top of the track. 5) Place the limit switch on the track with the "trigger" side on the proper side, with the trigger at the same position as where you noted it previously. 6) Firmly tighen the set screw, do not over tighten as this may cause the trigger switch to rotate away from the spring on the door opener trolley. Plugh your garage door opener back in, 7) Check the operation to make sure your garage door limits are acceptable. 8) Since you're now knowledgeable about the limit switch operation of your garage door, adjust the other switch if you need too. On mine, the downward switch had moved, meaning the garage door would *thunk* when closing too. Moving it 1/4" up the track eliminated the thunk yet the door still closes all the way. The level of mechanical skill required to install this switch is virtually zero, however, as noted, a nut driver is required to install and tighten the set screw. No electrical knowledge is required, however, you have to remove the wires from the existing switch and install it on the new switch.

This was a no brainer install, and a crucial part to the operation of the garage door. Works fine, as it really has nothing to do with the brand of motor, rather it sits on the center rail and controls the door/motor to stop with the plastic arm.

I bought this to replace switches to work with Genie Pro 82 1.3hp screw-drive. It is at least 10 years old system. The origonal switch was intermittent and corroded. Installation is very easy and it works the first time. I bought a second one right after to replace the other one. The other one is still working but might as well replace both while I can.
