This "Genie MAT90-BL Mini Remote Controller" remote is the same unit as the "Genie MAT90 keychain garage door opener" remote. I was looking for the smallest keychain remote that would work with a Genie garage door opener that was over 10 years old (without Intellicode). After I purchased this remote, I found and purchased the "keychain" remote thinking it was smaller. Both remotes are exactly the same. I was fooled by the advertised descriptions listed from 2 different sellers on Amazon.com. So Buyer Beware. \
BTW, I can use both remotes... the only problem is that I paid shipping costs from each seller, which means I spent $6-$7 extra.

I received my Genie MAT90 less than a week ago. I'ts a little bigger than I was hoping, but it's still fits on my key chain. The only reason I didn't give this item 5 stars is due to the larger size and due to the 12 volt battery it uses, which may not be available everywhere you get batteries. It probably isn't cheap either.

The unit works as good as both of my Clicker brand remotes, if not better. It's a simple design, single button, 390hz, single LED remote.

I have noticed how difficult it is to find a 390hz garage remote that is NOT an IntelliCode or Security Plus unit. I made two previous mistakes because I didn't / couldn't read the packages clearly, which is more than likely deliberate from the manufacturer. Idunno.

Anyway, I am happy with this remote.

UPDATE 10/11/08- The clip that holds the two halves together broke while in my pocket, so I have tape holding the whole thing together.

great for us! Range is good for what we use it for. Usually on driveway or sidewalk when pushing button and it's never been a problem.

Have used one of these mini remote controllers for 10 years without problem. You do have to be close to the garage door(within 6 feet) to open it but why would you want to open it 20+ feet away anyway? I do keep it on my keychain with no problem. Finally the case has broken after ten years so I am replacing it. Had no problem finding replacement batteries at Home Depot or Lowe's type stores.

This remote is larger than I expected because of the title "Mini Remote," but it works great. I haven't tried to find a replacement battery since it is not yet an issue. I like the remote. I don't keep it on my key chain due to the size.

This remote worked for maybe a week and then died. Even after I replaced the battery it never worked again. When it did work it would only work when I was barely 10 feet from the garage door which was a little frustrating. The original remote worked from across the street which was nice. I could hit the button from across the street and pull into my garage without delay. Clearly this remote was defective but by the time I got around to exchanging it the return period had expired (totally my fault).

For what it's worth, I bought the same remote for my husband and his is still working fine. Obviously I got a bad one and I simply waited too long to take care of it. Oh well...

I bought this as a replacement for the original brick style Genie remote that finally just gave out. Works every time and fits nicely in the car or on a key ring. Seems to have range that is as good or better than the larger unit. This remote has the dip switch style settings and all you need to do is match up the settings to the remote(s) you already have and you are good to go.

Compatible with my older Genie door, and cheaper than the retail prices. I've bought a bunch of these, one for each set of car keys as I decided to remove the large openers from inside our cars. One too many times of having the car broken into, and having the opener there wasn't such a good idea.

Would have given it five stars, but my wife managed to have her's fall apart on her after a few months on the key chain. All the others we've had are still working 6+ months later.

The size is smaller if you compare with the bulky one, but not "mini". I attached it with my car key in the separate key chain from others since it is just too "much" to have them all in the same one.

Functionality-wise it works fine and easy to setup.

I am happy to have this much smaller remote for my old Genie opener, but it's signal only reaches out to the end of my driveway.
