How this guy got the chance to release something like this is beyond me.The lyrics are idiotic, there is not a memorable moment on this disc. The singers sing oh ye and ye,ye all the time wich is pritty annoying. If you want a good metal opera ,buy the Avantasia albums.
Do not waste your money on this one.

I was never all that impressed with Empty Tremor guitarist Daniel Liverani's Genius rock opera project. I picked up the first part of the trilogy based on the impressive list of contributing vocalists, but found the storyline incomprehensible and the songs not very memorable. I skipped the second installment entirely, but curiosity brought me back around to Episode 3: The Final Surprise. Well, curiosity and the fact that my two favorite vocalists - DC Cooper and Jorn Lande - both appear on this album. Also appearing are Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation), Oliver Hartmann (At Vance), singer Toby Hitchcock (Pride of Lions) and Eric Martin (Mr. Big).
Unfortunately, all of the things that bothered me about the first Genius album are present here as well. The story is too convoluted and the dialogue/lyrics are just ridiculous. Another major drawback is that there aren't really any tracks here that work as self-contained songs that you could listen to apart from the rest of the album. The vocal performances are as good as they can be, given the subject matter, but the whole thing just pales in comparison to Arjen Lucassen's Ayreon rock operas - and I'm not even a big fan of those! I never thought I'd see the day when I was disappointed by an album with DC Cooper AND Jorn Lande, but here's the proof. They do the best they can with what they were given, but what they were given just isn't very good. I suppose "No More Chances", "Let Me Live" and "Dream in Liberty" are worth buying as downloads if you're a hard core Jorn fan, otherwise this is an album to avoid. |
