I bought this Genius Nicer Dicer because it looked perfect for my needs - just going onto a new healthy diet. It came with a leg broken off the grater -this is very common I have seen - but I glued it back on and it works ok. As far as chopping fruit and veges - I have mixed reactions. It is a great idea and I have used it for a week solid chopping all kinds of fruit and veges. Unfortunately - that was as long as I used it as the most used attachment (the slicer) just disintegrated. Hard veges like carrot and potato just bent it out of shape and then the metal snapped. Needless to say I did want to get more that one week out of it. So the search for spare parts: surely I don't have to buy an entire new unit if I only need a couple of the slicing inserts - well I can't find spare parts anywhere and for the price $39.90 I won't be buying a new one every week. If you know of spare parts - please advise. In summary - its a great idea but far too fragile for the purpose it is intended for.

I have used one of the Vadalia onion choppers for years and really liked it EXCEPT for cleaning all the little squares in the cover. I hesitated buying this one for quite awhile because I already had the large Genius chopper and the small Vadalia onion one. Well, I finally gave in and bought it anyway, replacing the Vadalia unit. It was worth the money just to have the push button in the cover that cleans out the little squares. All you do is hold down the button while you're rinsing the top and you're done. Sooooo easy. You don't even have to bother putting the pieces in the dishwasher.

You might wonder why I wanted this one since I already had the large chopper. Well, not all jobs are that large and you don't need a 5 qt. bowl if you are only chopping a couple of onions or some pepper for salsa. I use the small chopper on an almost daily basis. There isn't anything I can't do with it.

Others have complained that they broke. I assume that might be because they were trying to chop an entire large vegetable at one time. You do have to cut the vegetables down somewhat so they fit the grid and you do have to place the blade in place properly, meaning the blade you're using should be closest to the front end of the unit. You get more leverage that way. Just smack the cover down and you're done. I have no problems at all with carrots or potatoes or anything else for that matter.

The only downside to the unit in my opinion is that the blades could be a little bit larger. I buy very large onions and the largest slices from the middle of the onion don't quite fit. I do have to cut them in half. That said... I don't really care because I love have everything uniformly chopped. The finished product looks great when the pieces are all uniform.

Note: My product did come from QVC

Very difficult to slice and dice with these blades. They are not sharp enough. I do a lot of canning, freezing and preserving and this unit does not meet my expectations. I threw it away.

I've had the original nicer dicer for years, and have used it a great deal. However, I always wished that it could do more things and was a better quality.

This new one is a better design, does more things, and is sharper. In addition to having a number of interchangeable cutting edges for different results, it sits on a base that holds much more cut food.

Using either version, you need to use some sense. Don't be taken in by the infomercials. If you're cutting something hard to cut, make the piece you put in small. And always use a firm, fast downward thrust in doing the cutting. You will quickly discover what you can and can't do.

I'm really glad to have this device. It's a great value. However, I won't give it a 5 star because I still wish it was a great quality tool, rather than a cheap plastic one with a cleaver design. I would pay 4 times as much for one made to last for 25 years, but for the price I paid for it, I have no complaints. It's well worth having.

Since the instructions were written in gibberish, I had to locate a video on U-Tube to figure out how to use the various pieces. These are exact quotes found in the booklet: "strutting next to the arsonist" and "columns for fitness and bowling." Perhaps the Nicer Dicer has more uses that I have not yet discovered!!! I still do not have any idea what to do with the round "stamp." A friend told me what to do with another mystery piece.

The new Nicer Dicer is just as good as the other one only better. I can make greek salad for a whole family in one container. Just as easy to clean, store, and use, but with more chopping options and of course not having to empty the container all the time is a big time saver.

I was intrigued by this dicer after using a different dicer for many years. . . The biggest issue I had with the old dicer (Progressive brand) was that it was a pain to clean the top part of the lid when little bits of stuff got stuck in it -- this dicer offered a little button on the top that helps clean out the pushers. When the old dicer broke after years of use I decided to give this a try based on that feature alone -- the low price helped.

The first thing I attempted to cut was a green pepper, When cutting the green pepper I used the large square blades, and only attempted to chop enough green pepper to cover the blade area. So an average green pepper probably takes about 8-12 different chops. The first chop didn't cut all the way through the pepper -- the blades on this chopper don't seem to have an edge at all. The 2nd chop was more forceful, I don't remember if it was that second chop or a third, but after a few chops the button on the top of the lid that cleans the pushers popped off. Not a big deal, I put it back together and resumed my work. . .

On my last couple of chops I noticed the corner of the blade holder was sticking up funny -- I thought a piece of pepper must have gotten between the blade and the base, but when I pulled the blade off of the base I noticed that the blade holder had split it half the long way and the blades were not being held in place anymore. I thought perhaps this piece was able to be snapped back together, but it wasn't. . . So in 3/4 of a green pepper the main cutting blade of this device was destroyed.

I thought about giving this item 2 stars, because the range of blades is really impressive. . . Ultimately since it's headed for the trash bin after one use cutting a pretty easy vegetable I stuck with a single star. .
