AS a former University of Minnesota physician this book fills in the gaps of the rumors and stories of a great surgeon and a very fascinating character. His faults deny the brilliance of his accomplishments, very well written. The politics of this career carried on well past his leaving the U, with a struggle between physicians in the Varco and Lillehei tradition.
