a new pinnacle for death metal,

this is the best death metal album ever. i said that in another review a couple years ago about Morta Skuld's Surface, but Bloodthorn have reached a new pinnacle. it's in no way mechanized or industrial sounding, but just absolute crushing effing crusty heaviness, the producer is an absolute genius. it's a bit more groove less math version of Cannibal Corpse's last album, but it's like one guitar does the riffing, which is all like muted powerchords and melodic speed picking, (absolutely none of that At the Gates melodeath style that is bastardized by every lame metalcore band who somehow think they're playing "thrash") and then it's like the second guitar is just this downtuned crust rumble drone crushing the low-end, and then they just go full speed and destroy everything. the drummer has the perfect balance of like speed attack and fancy fills so it's not just like machinegun grindcore boringness which a lot of brutal death metal bands seem to think is the way to go. the parts where the drumming and bass drop out and it's just the regular guitar, and then they do a few stop-start blasts with the drums and bass before the low end fully comes in again, that stuff is awesome.
