This is the second omnibus in the series and continues the excellence in the first. You already know the premise by now, and the story arcs presented here continue the theme. Contained herein: great character personalities; a touching, but light evolving story; and excellent, fun art. Just like the first omnibus, Kodansha has done an excellent job with the presentation/packaging and the translation seems true. It's a thick book, with a solid binding that's easy to manage.

Genshiken is one of those manga's which burn slowly, yet when it revs up it just keeps on going. Sucked me in throughout the entire novel and I expressly cannot wait for the third Omnibus.

Beautiful inter-relations which happen subtly but surely.

The Genshiken series gets better and better with each volume. Humorous but realistic portrait of College Otaku Life in Japan. The female characters add a great deal of depth to the story starting with Saki-chan (the non-otaku girl friend) and later with Ohno-chan (the cosplayer) and finally with Ogiue-chan (the belligerent tsudere otaku). I especially like the episode in which Saki-chan is forced to cosplay even though she is not a Otaku. It was super emotional in the Anime video and came through well in the print manga.
A definite must read for anyone interested in Japanese Culture and their Anime and Manga!

Awesome characters, a great slice of life book with a hint of maturity every now and then. The humor and concepts are a bit dry so recommended for people who have been reading manga for a while.

We get to see the aftermath of the fire at the end of book 1, and see a more relaxed Saki, great scenes with Madarame at the sushi place, show that both of them are beginning to see the person behind the image they have of one another. Also we have here the arrival of Ougui and Kuchiki, Sasahara becoming club president and doing the comicfest. Good books with lots of things going around. By the end several members graduate so genshiken will be different next book, waiting to start reading it
