A masterpiece!, August 11, 2000
Elizabeth Goudge is my favorite author. In this book she combines history and all the many types of love ( love for God, selfless love, romance, etc.) to make a book that I just hated to leave! It takes place in Cornwall, but also takes us to France, to see the devastation in the wake of the French Revolution from the eyes of two people. I felt like I was there!

a timeless story of love, January 30, 2012
A story retelling a legend of St Michael's chapel of Torquay about a living child cast in a dead mother's arms after a shipwreck. Stella has always know she was different. Although she deeply loves father and mother Sprigg, at age ten she knows she is far too different to be their biological daughter.
Zachery Moon has past life he cannot talk about. He started out as an aristocrat but after his grandmother's death he began living as a cabin boy at sea. Now fifteen, he is a deserter. He ran away from his life at sea and now have no where to go.
When Zachery meets Stella one night, she feeds him and he suddenly has a reason to make something of his life because they have an instant connection of their unknown pasts.
This is a timeless story of love, children's progression into adulthood, and finding parts of the past that have been lost. It is full of suspense, surprises, sorrow, and laughter.
I strongly recommend to advanced readers who like books like Pride and Prejudice. This is one of my most favorite books.
