I purchased this product from Gentle Air after completing some research I was doing to try to find a product that would enable my wife to sleep comfortably without any stress on our baby. 2.0 out of 5 stars 5 Star reviewers work for Gentle Air
I find it highly odd that all of these 5 star reviewers only have 2 reviews each, both for "Gentle Air" products.

I don't own it. I found the product amusing and was reading the reviews out of curiosity when I noticed they all must work for Gentle Air.

Just a bit of buyer-beware from a bored shopper.

I would like to post good comments about this products, but since i receive the box my problems started, the product seems to be refurbished, then when my wife tried to use she felt her belly stretching, a strange and bad sensation! She also complained about the size of hole in the air bed, too big! She is pregnant of 36 weeks, and now, neither for guest we can use the air bed, because the cushion that goes inside of hole, which was supposed to be inflated, don't keep more than 10 second, so we just bought an air bed with a hole inside!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars When it functions like it should, it is pretty good, September 20, 2009

My wife used this bed for her third trimester. She did find relief from her severe hip and groin pain, but the manufacturing of the bed is horrible. We had an impossible time with the adapter fitting into the valves on the bed to inflate and deflate. They did not make the holes to fit. Secondly, even when the internal valves are locked into position, the bed still deflates slowly. Normally a touch up would be no big deal, but when you can not fit the adapter into the inflation holes, it makes it very difficult.

My suggestions:
Make sure you can return it if you get a defective bed with improperly fitting holes/adapter. (We could not)
Do not inflate the bed entirely. My wife kept it around 75 percent full and it took the pressure off of her hips. She also put her hip in the hole instead of her tummy, then used a regular pillow under the belly for support. She tried to stomach sleep...NOT GOOD AT ALL.
Be prepared to roll off of the bed to the floor to get up...otherwise you may not get up.

I believe the ability to control the size and shape of the baby pouch was the primary reason we were able to use this bed throughout my wife's pregnancy. And now that we have been blessed with our daughter and we are back in our bed, the air bed has moved to our lake home where it serves as the perfect fill-in when additional guests or family spend the night.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best relief available for comfort during pregnancy, February 26, 2008
This review is from: Gentle Air MB2002T Maternity Air Bed (Health and Beauty)
I had horrible tossing and turning trying to get comfortable during my pregnancy (with twins). My husband bought me the gentle maternity air bed and we both slept better. I wake up rested without the shoulder, neck and lower back pain that was constant before we had the air bed. I highly recommend this to anyone expecting. It is an essential.

1.0 out of 5 stars HUGE WASTE OF MONEY, April 30, 2007
This review is from: Gentle Air MB2002T Maternity Air Bed (Health and Beauty)
I'm convinced that this is just some guy's way of making some extra cash. I received this bed as a generous gift from my parents. Pregnancy causes me to suffer from severe pelvic pain, groin pain, and lower back pain. Sleep does not come easy and we all hoped this bed was the answer. If anything, this bed increased my pain to the point of tears!! The product was shipped to me in a box that looked like it had been shipped half a dozen times before. There were holes and tears throughout the box and they did a terrible job of using an entire roll of packaging tape to try to hide the marks. The adaptor's outlet plugs were bent to the point that I had to use pliers to pry them open to plug in the pump. The mattress had some scuff marks and what looked like dirt on it. The instructions came all wrinkled like someone had carried them in their pocket for a while. I got the strange sense that the bed had been used before. Against my better judgment, I decided to try it anyway. BIG mistake. After three hours of trying to get comfortable with the mattress losing air anyway, I gave it up and returned to my regular bed. Spending just three hours in the bed caused me so much pelvic pain that I ended up laying on the floor crying my eyes out. Getting on and off of an air mattress at 31 weeks pregnant is not an easy task so I just had to roll off the bed onto the floor and then try to get up from there. Although I only spent 3 hours in the bed the night before, I was unable to walk properly this morning. The pain was excruciating. Also, I was a stomach sleeper prior to pregnancy and had hoped that the little "belly hole" would allow me to sleep on my stomach again. My baby went insane! He started kicking left and right...it scared me. I felt like I was doing something wrong by putting even the slightest amount of pressure on him. I will NEVER attempt to sleep on an air mattress while pregnant again. My gut instinct told me it was a weird idea to begin with and I should have listened to that instinct!

I am small-built and carried twins. Unfortunately, I've always slept on my stomach. So after I gained 20 pounds by start of month 6 (24 or so weeks), almost all in my stomach, sleeping quickly began to go from mildly unpleasant to downright impossible. (Sleeping on my side with pillows was not effective for more than a few hours a night.) THIS MATTRESS WAS A SANITY-SAVER.

HUGE Positive: It's no regular mattress, but it's about as comfortable as an air mattress can be. I was able to return to sleeping for 7-8 hrs. a night until I was in week 36 (when I had gained 45 lbs, and I'm fairly certain nothing was going to save me from discomfort).

Main negatives:

(1) It's still an air mattress. It's a bit difficult to get off it, because you can't press down on it for support to the same extent as a regular mattress.
(2) It isn't super-cheaply made, but it's also not industrial material. It did get several holes over the several months. We patched up with duct tape and the patches that you'd use on plastic baby pools. It ended up looking ugly, but it still worked. Generally not going to be able to be passed down to friend.
(3) Couldn't share the bed with my husband.

Bottom line: It's a lot of money for something that won't be useful in 3 months, BUT it's the best way I know to let a very pregnant woman get a decent night's sleep. If you can afford it, and need it, I recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars GENIUS idea, poorly made, April 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gentle Air MB2002T Maternity Air Bed (Health and Beauty)
If I could rate this based on the idea alone, I would definitely give it 5 stars. It's a genius idea, and when it is fully inflated, it is fabulously comfortable for me, a pregnant belly sleeper. What is most unfortunate is that it does not stay fully inflated for long. In fact, I have had to re-inflate it once or twice PER NIGHT as it loses air so quickly. I have continued to use it, despite this absolute nuisance, because I can't get to sleep any other way. Having to spend a minute or two re-inflating, a couple of times per night, is still better than not sleeping. But, that said, it seems quite ridiculous that an air mattress should go flat that quickly. They should have created a better-quality product, especially for the price. I definitely have a love-hate relationship with this mattress.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must purchase for soon to be mums that are back and tummy sleepers, March 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gentle Air MB2002T Maternity Air Bed (Health and Beauty)
Purchased the Gentle Air matress about 5 months into the pregnancy and wished I had purchased at month 3.
Pros:
Airmatress was high enough that you did not feel like you were sleeping on the floor. Center could be easily adjusted to accommodate the growing bulge. The overall firmness could be adjusted easily. Very portable, as I traveled for business throughout my pregnacy - it became carry on luggage.
#1 PRO - customer service from manufacturer! After 4 months of everyday use - it developed a leak - a quick call to the manufacturer and I had a replacement within the week.

Cons:
Middle seciton did not hold air for too many nights
Did develop a leak after months of "ab"use- but see #1 PRO.
