I read Dr. Elgin's "The Gentle Art of Verbal Self Defense" in 1988 in my college years. It was good and I took 2 or 3 days to do a complete read-thru. It was very good and shaped my verbal skills for management and sales, although it wasn't targeted for that.The *written* self defense book is every bit as good. Actually I think it is a necessary reading for anyone. If you've ever said something that was, can we say, so bad that you don't even bring it up to apologize? Well, this book provides good insight into letter writing, particularly on touchy subjects. Very highly recommended! |
