Many of those who loved the old Flipper series in their childhood also liked Gentle Ben, which was the adventures of a boy and his pet bear. Unfortunately, they will probably be a bit disappointed in the quality of this DVD set, which is the only one currently available of this series. The six episodes on the two discs offer a good sampler of this family friendly series. But there is no restoration of sound and picture as with the Flipper DVD's. The picture is like an old VHS tape from twenty years ago, and the sound is also sometimes poor enough so that you can't understand every word of dialogue. You would expect something better from the discs that are available with their modern technology. If you love the show you might want this DVD set because there is nothing else available besides VHS tapes. However, it would be nice if something better like a good season DVD set of Gentle Ben were released.

I was so excited to finally see Gentle Ben on DVD. It is still every bit as good as when I was a kid. The sound reproduction, however, is very disappointing. I had to turn the TV up all the way to hear it, and then it didn't sound good. I expected this to have been remastered, but was disappointed that it was not. Still, I feel I got my money's worth at $12.49, but will research Season 2 more carefully before I buy it.

Many of those who loved the "Flipper" and "Gentle Ben" TV series in their childhood also liked "Kentucky Jones" (Dennis Weaver) and "The Farmer's Daughter" (Inger Stevens). I wish these two wonderful old TV series and many others like "A Man called Shenandoah" (Robert Horton), "The Detectives" (Robert Taylor), "The Magic Boomerang", "The Greatest Show on Earth" (Jack Palance) would finally be released on DVD.

Do not buy this! You can't understand what they are saying. Terrible quality! Not sure how they even managed to put this out for sale!
