OK - Kill them was incredible in spots - anxious arms...perfect. I guess that is why i gave this album a 3 instead of a 5. I have only listened through the entire album three times, and I am a knapsack, jealous sound fan, and I am challenged at this time to rate this album higher. Listening intently to the flow of the album I was waiting (maybe too much so) for the anxious arms type of break out that adds punctuatuion to an album. Sorry, they needed to make me stand up and I sat though it. If anything - this album is a bit snow-patrolly...sorry - I will repost and beg for forgiveness if my future listens make me rethink my review.

Kill them with Kindness was truly great btw.

UPDATE...

Moving album to a 4 star - great stuff. It seems - and my music buddies have similar philosophies - that if it takes me more than five or six listens to fully get it, it will likely become a favoriute album. This is the case here. It clicked with me today. Albim is a must have.

Nine Years after they gave us their debut, the guys are back with a great record with 10 awesome melodic gems. Worth every second of those 9 years. Stand outs are Tracks 1,3,4 and seven.. Each track is radio ready and awesome. Catch 'em live!

Granted, my musical tastes have changed, changed some more, changed back again, and then changed again since 1995. But one thing is certain - not many songwriters out there can produce such emotional and explosive choruses like Blair Sheehan can. Listening to this album took me all the way back to the 1995 debut LP of Knapsack, Silver Sweepstakes (which was a masterpiece of its genre). That said, the common issue of sounding dated does not affect A Gentle Reminder in the least bit.

I never thought I'd hear from this band again, but here they are, 9 years later with an album that is, well, just AWESOME. I dare say I like it even more that Kill Them with Kindness. The sound here is clean and accessible, the songs rock but have that moving quality that makes it even more special. Give these dudes a chance!
