3.0 out of 5 stars Love The Second Time Around, February 22, 2010

This review is from: Gentle Savage (Paperback)
I wasn't sure which person was supposed to be the 'Gentle Savage' Kelsey Hope or Marshall Henderson, he was certainly a bossy, controlling, my-way-or-no-way kind of guy.
I like the old, old, old books because I like romance not lust-mance, but most of the time I have to exchange sex filled pages for abusive, cold or controlling men; this book had all three rolled up into one Marshall.
Even though Kelsey tried to hold her own, her mother Ruth didn't help, like all mothers Ruth wanted to see her darling daughter settle down with Mr Right, but Marshall was determined he was going to be the only one Kelsey would be with.
Kelsey was quick to answer Marshall back, but she got threatened with a turn you over my knee spanking more than a few times.
Marshall was ruthless in his pursuit of Kelsey. I believe if he had only told her how he felt in the beginning he would have saved both of them so many heartaches. But Marshall felt he was too old for 15 yr-old Kelsey, and he was, but he could have waited for her to grow up, which is really what he did. Only he didn't let her or her mother know how he felt.
Marshall had made his way up the ladder of wealth, by hard work, sweat and determination. (don't we all wish that was how it really went).
But he came back to Kelsey only to find Greg the son of Kelsey's boss trying to get Kelsey, she didn't want him. Marshall stepped in to rescue Kelsey at her 21st birthday party only to have Greg announce he was going to get Kelsey fired, and make sure no one hired her as a interior designer. And that she was one of Marshall's women, telling her when Marshall finished with her, he would be waiting.
From the back of the book. "'She would play her part to the best of her ability, do a wonderful job on his house, and when she left she would be casual and friendly, never betraying that he was breaking her heart.'
Marshall Henderson had known Kelsey Hope for years, and now he was back in her life again, only this time it was Kelsey's turn to play the role of the other woman. Now she would know what it was like to fall in love with a man like Marshall, to fall in love only to be rejected...like all the others."
