More About the Author

USA Today Best Selling Author, Jerrica Knight-Catania, knew from an early age that she was destined for romance. She would spend hours as a young girl sitting in a chair by an open window, listening to the rain, and dreaming of the day Prince Charming would burst in and declare his undying love for her. But it wasn't until she was 28-years-old, tired of her life in the theater, that she turned her focus toward writing Regency Romance novels. All her dreaming paid off, and she now gets to relive those romantic scenes she'd dreamt up as a child as she commits them to paper. She lives in sunny Palm Beach with her real life Prince Charming, their Princess-in-training and their aristocat, Dr. Snuggle.

An enjoyable and engrossing story! It is such a nice change of pace to have both the hero and heroine written as good, upstanding people. They are just caught up in circumstances that threaten to destroy their love for each other. These two are very easy to love and root for. I especially loved the fact that Benjamin respected and honored Pheobe's virtue enough to hold himself back until their wedding night (don't worry that was fairly soon in the book) Hooray! A truly honorable man, for a change!

Their reactions to some of the events, however, seemed extremely juvenile and at times, roll-your-eyes silly. At first one can make an allowance for Pheobe, she's young and naive, after all, but after having (supposedly) learned from her mistake, she immediately repeats it by staying in her room and refusing to speak to Benjamin for six (yes, SIX) days because he won't divulge her Mother's secret!?!? Benjamin, on the other hand is supposed to be older, wiser and more responsible to begin with, yet after their first fight, he runs aways for THREE weeks!! Hmmmm, see what I mean?

Benjamin needs a wife to produce and heir. Phoebe needs a husband to keep her and her mother out of debtor's prision. They find in each other a solution to each of their problems. They also find an enduring love. The chemistry (physical and emotional) is nicely displayed in this story. Their are some steamy scenes, if that bothers you. The supporting characters are equally as charming. Katherine, Benjamin's sister, provides a light humor to the story. I found some parts of the story bland and predicatble, almost like the author felt she needed a filler of sorts. One of my favorite parts was the Epilogue. But, overall this is a sweet, quick historical romance that is worth the time to read. I have also read the other in the series and they are equally as delightful.

Earlier I wrote a negative review of "A Lesson in Passion" because the end of the book leaves you hanging and you have to buy SIX more books to find out what happens. I don't think so! This book is also one in a series of books but it is the type of series I enjoy. Each book in the series is about another character and is a standalone book in its own right. Reading additional books gives another complete story but just lets you see a little bit more into the lives of characters you have met in a previous book.

However, in "A Gentleman Never Tells" I thought that Ben perhaps took the "honor" thing a little bit too far when he refused to tell Phoebe the truth about how her father died and left her thinking he had killed him. I sometimes grow weary of reading about people who keep things hidden from a loved one "for their own good" and refuse to reveal the truth until it comes back to bite them in the behind! I subscribe to the belief that the only way you KNOW you can keep a secret is if you are the only one who knows it...otherwise, the truth will probably eventually come out. I did enjoy the book and with slight reservations, recommend it.

I've often encountered frustrations with romantic novels based in the past where there was not the right amount of historical research and accurate references so the story line became silly or unbelievable - not so with this book! It was easy to get completely wrapped up in the characters and plot because it was believable and seemed like it was a true story. Tastefully written, interesting enough to hold my attention - I will definitely be on the list to pre-order the next book by this author.

Unless you like raunchy, explicit sex, don't read. Books, like movies, should be rated so that people who do not enjoy this type of trash, will not waste their money on this type purchase.

This was my first foray into historical romance, and I must say, I was riveted! I was completely transported into another time and place, and loved every minute of it! It is a quick read, I whipped through it in a few days, probably because I was so hooked. As for the title of my review, there were a few saucy scenes that made me blush--enjoyably so! Highly recommended!

This was such a pleasant read. Benjamin Wetherby started out living in New York as the book opens and he has a mistress. The thing that automatically stood out to me was even though she was his mistress he still had general compassion and respect for her. He could have easily just use her for her purpose but instead was considerate to her needs. At the plea from his mothers letter Benjamin needs to return to England for his father has not much time left. He knows at 26 that it is time to grow up and take a bride.

Phoebe Blake has fallen on hard times. Her father has been dead for a year and her and her mother are still paying on past owed debts. Everything worth selling has reached an end and Phoebe fears what is next to come. The thing I enjoyed most was that with all the fear and darkness her characters faced the author managed to keep things light somehow. Benjamin's sister Kat was the cause for some of the lightness in my opinion. She was mischievous and funny to me. There is a time she has the h sprawled on a floor in her cups that brought a smile to my face.

It was truly Benjamin and Phoebe who had me engrossed because they were so good together. They waste no time in wedding each other and for those who may think it happens quick I fell in love with them both. I wish I could tell you why but I really don't think it was any one thing. I think you have to believe in love at first sight to begin with because it does happen quick but than again the pair do not profess undying love in the beginning but they do know in their own hearts that they are lost. Why not?
