5.0 out of 5 stars Glorious mono
I bought this CD after hearing Charlie Hunter interviewed on NPR. He talked about why he had gone back to mono recording and about his music in general. The station played a few cuts and I was hooked. The CD is even better and I can listen to it often and never get tired of it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Far from his best
I've being a long time fan of Charlie Hunter, met the man (Because he has been willing to step of the stage and talk with concert goers.) and own more than a dozen of his projects. So, I'm a fan, yet I fear he's starting to play around with recording ideas more than musical ones. He knows good music and I expect he'll get back to it eventually, but this is largely...

I've being a long time fan of Charlie Hunter, met the man (Because he has been willing to step of the stage and talk with concert goers.) and own more than a dozen of his projects. So, I'm a fan, yet I fear he's starting to play around with recording ideas more than musical ones. He knows good music and I expect he'll get back to it eventually, but this is largely Baboon Strength (already one of his most pedestrian efforts) revisited. Just play that recording again and wait for his next one. Maybe he'll be out of his slump by then. Sorry Charlie.

5.0 out of 5 stars esquire, April 26, 2010
saw the Charlie Hunter Trio at Levon Helm Midnight Rambles. never a fan of instrumental bands until I heard this band and watched Charlie Hunter on that "guitar". He is absolutely unbelievable-I think he makes his guitar sing. And the rest of the trio is absolutely great. But anything that they put out. Were my wife and I lucky that when we went to the Midnight Ramble, the Charlie Hunter Trio was the opening act and then we were blessed that he played with Levon Helm and his band. WOW!!!

This was purchased as a gift, so I have not heard it. The transaction couldn't have been better - speedy shipping and good purchase price.
