3.0 out of 5 stars The ORIGINAL recording of BLONDES, September 20, 2010
This review is from: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (OCR) (Audio CD)
Prism is one of the many labels that have sprung up in the UK the past few years, re-releasing older albums that are beyond the 50-year mechanical copyright laws there. Be aware Prism (and the others) do not pay any royalties to the original artists or the record labels (Columbia/SONY)who paid to make these recordings. (In the USA copyright laws are different and these recordings are still protected.)

Sony released GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES on CD in 1991,Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949 Original Broadway Cast) but for some reason used alternate takes for many of the tracks. The alternates are in no way inferior - just different from what we heard on Lp all these years. In this case the Sony release includes longer takes of some songs.

For those, however, who want a CD to reflect the performances they had on Lp this release will do very nicely. Sound quality is good, and the song follow the Lp order (rather than the order they were performed in the show.) There is also a bonus track of Frank Sinatra singing "Bye Bye Baby."
