About the Author

It was in the costume jewelry section of the city mall’s Park Lane Hosiery Boutique where I spent the fourteen dollars ninety-nine cents plus tax. December 1977, I begged my Mother for a loan and bought a fools-gold necklace with a heart-shape charm. It was a Christmas gift for Eleanor Roma, the dreamiest girl in the fourth-grade. I had to make her mine. At age ten I was already a Romeo in the making. I never expected Ellen to choose Richard Tate and a pair of silly earrings over me and my fifteen-dollar necklace. I was stunned. Stunned and confused. Why would she do such a thing? Why? What did Richard have that I didn’t? Had I somehow failed her? How? It would riddle my world for years to come.

The person I most often failed as a child? My father. He was a stern military man. Teaching me not to take shortcuts (or was it cutting things short?) was his only mission in life. My dad’s favorite battle grounds were the weed-infested landscapes of every home we ever lived in. He insisted I pull the roots of the weeds or the job was not done. He’d tell me if I didn’t get the roots I’d be pulling until I did. What was the big deal with the roots? The weeds were gone from sight, who cared? He did. Not heeding his orders kept me busy many an afternoon while other kids got to play. This went on for some time. Had I listened to my dad I would not detest Dandelions today.

At eighteen, this Romeo moved out of his parent’s home and began to discover life, love, and the beauty of concrete. I quickly developed a new respect for the man I’d considered a thorn in my side, hands, knees, pretty much everywhere. I also began to notice the effects typical romantic gifts had on women. Flowers and candy were like pulling the tops off weeds and leaving the roots behind. Then it hit me, maybe I should get what she liked and not what I thought she wanted. But how was I supposed to know she wanted? What if I simply asked? Hey, yeah!

I learned that beneath the surface of every woman lies unique and critical information valuable to men. A man need only listen to it. To get a hold of general information is simple, but to get a hold of (and keep) a good woman a man must be an awesome listener. What I once considered my father’s cruel and unusual punishment actually turned out to be a valuable lesson in listening. It took me nearly a decade to literally dig up the answer to the riddle Eleanor Roma left me. Underneath it all, dangling from the bottom of those earrings (I once thought silly) were long healthy roots. Richard knew what she liked. Thinking I knew her without doing my homework, I handed Eleanor the top of a prickly weed. Years later the moral of my story still stands strong. "To really make a woman happy it can take years or a man can just use his ears." What do you get when you cross Romeo with a great gardener? You get a relationship as lovely as a bed of roses---without weeds. You get me. Envious of the way I treat my wife Angelica, for years many of our friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members asked me to share my powerful techniques with them. On numerous occasions even strangers who witnessed the things I do for my wife have said, "You should write books that teach men how to do this kind of stuff for woman."

Today I provide men strategic tools to uproot ways and behavior that don’t work for them. I also show men how to replace those "old ways" with deeply rooted ones that work indefinitely. It’s my specialty and passion to evoke lessons of love to help men avoid trials and tribulations in their relationship and most importantly decrease their odds of getting divorced. As an Author, Coach, and Motivational Speaker I read alot of books about people, their motivations, and their relationships. I'm glad I read "Gentlemen, Start Her Engine - And Keep It Running" and added it to my bookshelf!

I first heard of Steven Guerrero from his insightful postings on some of the message boards that I frequent. Steven understands the damage done in this country by divorce and he's taken on the challenge to do something about it. When I heard that he was coming out with a book I eagerly waited for my copy to be delivered.

Start Her Engine is an excellent guide for men using concepts, ideas, and language that is easy to understand and implement. The three engine model allows readers to quickly develop a plan to fuel up and tune up their relationship for high performance. The checklists provided in the workbook section help you create a personalized, step by step plan for a lifetime of love and romance.

You might ask, "Why is it so important for men to learn how to satisfy a woman's appetite for romance?" Because when a woman is deprived of romance and attention, similar to food depravation, her eyes become bigger than her stomach. Therefore, anything with a hint of romance begins to look palatable to her. ~Steven A. Guerrero

Let's face it, some men know how to get a ladies engine running and as women we know exactly how we want to be "maintained, serviced and upgraded." It just doesn't feel the same when we have to explain what we want.

Finally, Steven Andrew Guerrero (the new guru of romance) has written a book for guys that just makes sense. Even my husband wanted to read this book! It definitely appeals to the male mind and I could sum up my feelings about this book in about two words by saying: Yes! Finally!

Not only is Steven Andrew Guerrero romantic beyond a romantic dream, he is darn funny too. Pages 31-33 had me rolling in bed with laughter. Can I say that if men take his advice and start to put his ideas into practice, planets are going to start to collide in the best of ways. The main chapters in this book include information about:

OK, guys, it doesn't get better than this! At last, here's a book that actually spells it out for you and makes it so much easier to get along with your mate. As a woman, I can tell you, you will save yourself a lot of grief by taking Steven Guerrero's advice. The best thing is, he's not about telling you that you're doing a bad job. He's passionate about helping you learn about what makes a relationship work. BTW, this is really TWO books in one! He includes an instructional section as well as a workbook. Beautiful!

Women, this is also a great read for you because it helps you understand where men are coming from. Wouldn't you like to know what's going on in their heads? You'll smile and nod as you zip through each chapter, thinking, "Why isn't this required reading for guys in high school?" It should be!

Everyone will walk away with a better understanding of the opposite sex and will thank the author for his unpretentious, humorous, and easy-to-read style. Thanks, Steven!
