I work my kone dirt devil to death... it is probably the only tool in the house that I use on almost a daily basis. That being said, the filters get a good workout. They last a couple of months before I see noticeably less effective cleaning happening. That's probably the expected lifespan for something used so regularly, so I'd say these are working as expected.
