Mine arrived dirty with a few dings. A trip to the garage for a ball ping hammer and then into the dishwasher and it is as good as new. It's what I expected for made in America. Built to last. This thing still has another 50 years left of campfire cooking in it I'm sure. It's tough so dont' be afraid to literally bang the dents out. Get one for your adventures. It's great for cooking eggs, warming up chile, an MRE, making pankakes, and whatever else you like. It is the best mess kit on the planet. I know because I've tried them all from ultralight to Iron skillets. This thing will serve the backpacker well. It gives you the ability to hunt with a .22 like the Kel tec su .22 and cook food you didn't have to pack in. This is how it saves weight. Get out there and see the wilderness and stay safe. You'll need this piece of kit along with a canteen cup and a can opener. A scouring pad comes in handy for cleaning but you can use sand as well. These are great for camping. Mine was not from Amazon but the one i have is authentic as well and was left behind by my late grandfather. They work great when you go camping and are just an overall great buy. well worth the purchase price which is actually fairly cheap. i recommend this as a worthwhile item for all outdoorsmen or as something for the casual camper due to its long life.

Really happy with this..looks pretty solid in construction and has a big surface area to cook on...NOT like some other mess kits I could mention.
