I uploaded a photo. All the date codes are blank. I give up on trying to buy these type batteries online ... they are all expired, questionable, or unknown. I don't care that the seller says these are freshly packed by Sony. The proof is on the package. And the proof says these are probably factory rejects.

I should have known better. I always, always, always read Amazon user reviews and I can't think of a time I didn't heed their warnings -- until now. Many reviewers stated that mybatterysupplier shipped dead (or nearly dead) batteries, but I figured those users must have received the rare bad batch. I mean, seriously, how hard is it to ship fresh batteries? I needed a CR2032, and at 5 batteries for $4.99 (with free Prime shipping), I figured it was worth a shot.

WRONG!

The batteries arrived promptly and the packaging looked just as it did in the ad. The "Use By" date on the package said 2021, so I figured I was all set.

WRONG!

Right out of the package, three of the five batteries registered "Replace" on my battery meter (the $3 battery tester from Amazon -- [...]details -- which is amazing, btw). I didn't bother testing the last two batteries. I printed out a return label and searched for this product by this seller so I could leave a negative review. I clicked on the order link directly from the My Account page . . .

and what d'ya know . . .

The link now lists the seller of the $4.99 Sony 5-pack batteries as Best Deal Supply, not mybatterysupplier, and all the very bad reviews for mybatterysupplier have mysteriously vanished. Maybe these are the same companies, maybe they aren't. I have no idea, but the timing of the name change is awfully convenient, as is the disappearance of all the negative reviews for mybatterysupplier.

Do yourself a favor. Don't bother with these batteries. Unless you need a whole lot of CR2032s, spring for the extra few bucks and buy one at your local drug store.

NEXT-DAY (12/20/2011) UPDATE: I went to see if my review was published and almost laughed out loud.

The batteries arrived in time and looked as advertised. The do not sell by DATE was masked by a sticker "FRESHLY PACKED BY SONY". However, the meter indicated very low charge on the batteries.

This pack of 5 is actually cheaper than what I've seen these batteries for when sold singly in stores. They are perfectly fine, reading 3.29 volts. However, there is no "Use by:" date printed on the packaging. On the same day I also ordered some of the same batteries (but Maxell branded) from another supplier and they read 3.31 volts, and from what I can tell from the date codes they are 2 years fresher. I guess "freshly packed" is more of an opinion than a fact. Note that since the same product rotates in lowest price between several vendors your experience may vary.

I ordered CR2032's. Amazon delivered batteries marked by Sony as, and packaged as, CR2025's; the order was for "2032's". Amazon had pasted a label and bar code on the package to read "CR 2032", even though Sony's cellophane packaging revealed another number. The CR 2025 are actually thinner than the 2032's and have a smaller capacity of 160 mAh vs 220 mAh for the CR 2032's. Recommend you buy one locally to ensure you get the battery you specify.

The batteries were received promptly and looked just like the picture and description. The back of the batteries were stamped with a date code of 0Y which means they were manufactured in November 2010. That means they were about 1 year old when shipped to me. I wouldn't call that real fresh but it is not too bad. Fortunately, these batteries have quite a long shelf life (years) if they are not exposed to heat. I performed a voltage test (with a small load) on the batteries. They read about 3.26 V which means they probably still have most of their original capacity. In the end, I gave these batteries a 4 star rating because I think a "fresh" battery should have been manufactured within 6 months of purchase. For me, 1 year is a bit long to say they are fresh.

I bought batteries like this locally and they last a year. Of this pack, none lasted more than 3 months, and two only lasted one month before dying in my pedometer. I see others have had similar experiences, so I doubt it was a fluke...

I purchased these for my Chamberlain garage door remotes, which have had the original batteries in them for 6 or 7 years. They still worked, but the range had become so short that they wouldn't work until I pulled my vehicle right up to the garage door. I replaced the originals with these and the result is that I now have to hold the remote out the car window for it to work. I don't have a way to test these, but I'd bet they were dead when I took them out of the package. Very disappointing, but they were cheap so at least I didn't waste a ton of money. Do yourself a favor and just go buy some at the corner drug store, which is what I should have done in the first place.
