I would give this zero stars if that was an option.

I will be returning to the dealer to have this uninstalled and will be purchasing a different pet barrier.

A small child can fit through the gap at the side where the airbags are.

The first reviewer must have a horse, because I can tell you that this barrier will NOT keep most dogs out of your back seat. Due to the design, Subaru engineers left an enormous gap at either side of the seat area, where the seat and window meet. I assume this to be for safety reasons should the curtain airbags deploy in a collision. I work with larger dogs (45-60lbs) for transport and rescue and they can easily climb through the holes. The quality of the unit is very good, don't get me wrong, and no it doesn't rattle and is heavy duty but it is not effective for my intended purpose which was to keep the dogs from entering the back seat areas. You may have better luck but I had no idea there was so much room between the divider and the window or I would not have wasted $300 on it. I can get one from Midwest that does a much better job with coverage.

I have a 55-pound husky and he can climb through the holes on each side of this "compartment separator" (Subaru no longer calls it a dog guard). As another reviewer stated, the holes are to allow the airbags, but they render it useless as a dog guard. That's a major bummer.

I should have listened to the previous 2 reviews the gap is too large to prevent a dog from getting into the main cabin. A small child can fit through the gap at the side where the airbags are.

I have a 55lb siberian husky who immediately jumped through one of the gaps on either side of the "barrier", and ended up sitting next to me in the front seat. I couldnt believe it so I proceeded to put her in the trunk 3 more times and she did the same thing every time. Maybe this barrier is effective if you have a st bernard but if you have babies in the back seat this barrier not only is useless but also dangerous as your dog will land directly on the infant car seats. I think this product should be recalled

There is a large gap on either side large enough for almost any size dog to get through. I have a 40 and 80 pound husky and the 40 pound husky has NO problem getting through the gap. I know there is probably a safety reason for the gap, but really, $300 for a dog barrier that does not work. I will give them the fact that it is sturdy. So don't be deceived by the picture, you will have to make jerry-rigged adjustments to the dog barrier for it to work. I used parts from a prior barrier that I had.
