This is a sturdy cardboard puzzle that should last a long time with normal wear. The individual countries of Europe are not tabbed (like traditional puzzle pieces) which makes assembling more tricky and the student really needs to have an idea of where each country goes. This also makes it possible for the teacher to remove one or two countries after the puzzle has been assembled and then quiz the student on which country/ies are missing. There are a number of different games a teacher could come up with on their own (unfortunately, they don't include ideas with the puzzle) to increase the usefulness of this puzzle, making it something the student won't tire of after just assembling it a few times. The puzzle is also large enough that the tinier countries (like Luxembourg and Lichtenstein) aren't just dots, even though they are connected to neighboring countries. Most of the countries, however, are an individual puzzle piece. I used it with the excellent resource GeoSongs by Audio Memory and my sons sing the Europe songs while finding those pieces. I think the puzzle was well worth the money and something that can be used by a creative parent/teacher in many different ways.

I don't have kids. I actually bought this one for myself and my wife. We live overseas and don't want to be "ignorant Americans." We decided to learn all(?) the countries of the world. This is one of our primary tools for doing it. It's really a great tool for doing that.

Honestly, I can't tell you if it'd be a good tool for kids. We'll hold on to them and use them with our kids when we have some, but for now, I can only say it's a great way for adults to learn geography.

My son loves to do this puzzle. He received it as a gift for his 4th birthday, so he still needs adult assistance for some of the more intricate areas of the puzzle, but he can get most of it done all by himself already. He's learning to identify countries by their shape and remember where they should be placed relative to one another. In fact, I should probably do it more often myself, because his geography skills are already better than mine!

We have purchased most of the GeoPuzzles and plan to buy them all. We like to put them all together separately on a large table. Then we mix up all the pieces of all the puzzles together and sort them. (This helps us learn which countries go with which continents.) After the puzzles are reassembled, we have one person close his eyes while the other person removes one or more countries, bodies of water, islands, etc. The person opens his eyes and has to identify each missing piece of land or water. This is a fun game that helps us learn our geography. We work up to the point of emptying a puzzle of every country and having the other person name each missing piece (without looking at any of the pieces, which have been placed upside down), one at a time, pointing out where it should go. As each missing piece is identified, it is put back in place in the puzzle, until the entire continent is again intact. My teenager loves to play this game.

This puzzle is fun and educational not just for children (for whom it's an excellent learning tool), but also for adults who want to brush up on (or learn for the first time) the relative locations of all those little countries you can't quite picture in your mind when they're mentioned on the news (especialy since the breakup of the USSR). The cardboard is fairly thick and sturdy. The pieces are shaped like the countries: I wouldn't buy a geography-puzzle without this valuable learning feature. It's colorful in an aesthetically appealing way, and country names, as well as bodies of water, are clearly marked. The box says it's for ages 4 to 104, and I think that's pretty accurate. I bought it for myself, and I'm finding that I remember where countries and seas are much more so than when I simply refer to a map. I've already ordered Africa and Asia, and plan to eventually get Latin America and USA/Canada.

Ideally, I would have liked to buy a Montessori puzzle of Europe because that's what my daughter is using in school. But, this puzzle was $6.99 and the Montessori puzzles are around $30-$40. So, I figured I'd see how these did.

Well, I think that the benefits of the Montessori puzzles are that they are made of wood and they aren't labeled. Instead of learning all of the countries by their shape and location, sometimes my daughter just reads the name of the country.

Meanwhile, it's still a great puzzle and definitely worth the price. I love how the puzzle shapes are the shapes of the countries with the exception of the very "small" countries and the water/outlying area.

These geo-puzzles are very colourful and clear. My daughter of 6 loves them. They are not easy and prove to be quite challenge (especially the one of the whole world) but that has to do with size. Some of the countries are truly miniature! I was actually looking for a good size floor puzzle and I found these to be too small. I wish they could produce these at leas four times the size!! as they are so beautiful and it really teaches kids so much!
